Be very very careful reading any trans news stories from the nytimes; the company does not believe that trans people are people and deserving of all the same rights as cis people. They are disingenuous about their coverage of trans news.

Also if it’s an opinion piece on trans issues from the nytimes, you’re better off not reading it. Those writers spew misinformation constantly and intentionally.

I think you're confused. I said I don't know if you missed a /s or not. Meaning that the quote you posted seems outlandish, but there is unfortunately plausibility it's true.
