House Majority Leader Steve Scalise endorses Trump for president

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise on Tuesday became the latest member of Republican leadership to endorse former President Donald Trump in his latest bid for the White House.

Scalise’s announcement comes less than two weeks before the Iowa caucuses kick off voting in the Republican presidential primary. All of House GOP leadership, except for House majority whip Tom Emmer, has now thrown their support behind Trump.

"Id only be dictator for one day"

"When you see the other side chopping off heads, waterboarding doesn't sound very severe"

Would you like more? That took me about 30 seconds.

Does grab em by the pussy ring any bells?

The first link is literally about Trump quoting Hitler and the history of that quote.

Trump has now literally said he is going to be a dictator, said that he wants to get rid of vermin, meaning anyone not a Republican, and is also very concerned about the purity of the blood of the nation.

Are you just amazingly ignorant, or the first overt right wing troll from r/thedonald that I have encountered on lemmy?

EDIT: oh god read your other comments, obvious troll is obvious holy shit

Party pushes being American and “Make America Great Again” over helping the citizenry

Party shows support for a person who has shown to support an insurrection of the US Constitution and openly talks about being a dictator while also complimenting other dictators

Party advocates for a ton of tax cuts for the rich and businesses while putting the economic pressure on the middle- and poverty-class citizens

Party is ok with accepting money from corporate entities in order to influence politics in their favor, regardless of how it affects the citizenry

Party advocates for suppressing the voice of the citizens with some insane district drawing that clearly favors a specific type of citizen and disfavors a ton of others

Party is in favor for rolling back child labor laws and tries to get retirees back into the work force, and also openly supports controlling birthrates via state-wide abortion bans that citizens can’t contest

Yeah, I’d say whatever party does all of that is probably fascist - or at the very least, on its way to being fascist.

Oh yeah - in fact, Democrats also do a lot of stuff the GOP does. However, I’ll support whatever party does see how batshit insane the idea of becoming a corpofascist state is, because unfortunately voting in the US has become “vote against what you don’t like” instead of “vote for what you want”.

In truth, I wouldn’t be surprised if the US does become a corpofascist state in our lifetimes - we tend to forget that Democrats are center-right while GOP is full-on right-wing, hence why Hillary was chosen instead of Bernie for the Democratic candidate.

nation and often race above the individual

America First, yes. Trump's favorite.

a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader

Right, like using a fake elector scheme to enthrone Trump as unelected dictator, presumably for life. It's their plan A.

severe economic and social regimentation

Like taxing the middle class and putting kids in cages?

forcible suppression of opposition

Lol.

Entire GOP shares one single testicle. They keep passing it to one another in the time when they need to act tough. In reality they are nothing but a bunch of cowards.

Everyone, just block the ban-evading fascist sympathizer in this thread.

They very obviously aren't here to be persuaded away from fascism.

And my dog not understanding nuclear fission, doesn't mean it's not real.

Just that he can't understand it.

I could spend the rest of his life explaining it in detail with lots of peer reviewed literature...

But why would I waste our time on that?

Because 1) it was posted an hour ago, 2) it's not at all unexpected. 3) the bots are doing their bot thing well, keeping political discussion (which might contain something useful to someone) nested in a thread hidden because of low ratio.

All discussion being confined to that thread means it won't be seen by people casually browsing (hoping to avoid toxicity, or who might not want to consider a viewpoint different from their own).

  1. is probably not news worthy to begin with.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise on Tuesday became the latest member of Republican leadership to endorse former President Donald Trump in his latest bid for the White House.

Scalise’s announcement comes less than two weeks before the Iowa caucuses kick off voting in the Republican presidential primary.

“I am proud to endorse Donald Trump for president in 2024, and I look forward to working with President Trump and a Republican House and Senate to fight for those families who are struggling under the weight of Biden’s failed policies,” Scalise posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The former president continues to lead the Republican presidential primary field by around 40 percentage points in nationwide polling, according to the latest update to the CNN Poll of Polls, ahead of his chief rivals Florida Gov.

Trump’s commanding lead comes as he is a defendant in multiple criminal trials and faces 91 charges against him across four separate cases.

He’s been juggling campaigning in early voting states with his legal obligations as a defendant.
