A friend of mine went through that too. A really bright guy who aced every class, but he rebelled whenever the professors were being really hard. The professors hated him, but the most they could do was reduce his grades for practicals, even though he aced those as well.

The profs and batchmates would say, "he's a lucky guy," but I knew that he really enjoyed studying because we would study together.

I guess it's true. Everyone wants you to do well, but not better than them. A sad truth.
