Can we settle this: how many holes does a straw have?

This classic question came up at work and became a big discussion. I think the answer is two, but others really disagreed. What do you think?

How many holes does a donut have?

You wouldn't say it has two, would you?

And if you pull the top face of the donut up to lengthen it into a straw, you didn't create any new holes, so why would it suddenly be two?
