Is it okay to perform only one religions ceremonies at a secular parliament inauguration?

The separation of church and state was one of the key outcomes of the French revolution. Yet 400 years later. The "world's largest secular democracy" took a symbol from history and wrapped religion around it like it was nobody's business.

Then to top it off, why are these sadhus doing a religious ceremony at a secular inauguration? If a Muslim PM did this with 30 mullas there would be outright protests.

Religion is set in stone. It is unquestioned faith in unproven concepts. It is scary to run a country through the lense of religion because then you lose the power to question authority.

As a Hindu, I believe religion itself is an imported concept. We have historically been a culture where people who worshipped different gods, believed in different ways of lives, wore different attires, spoke different languages, believed in different means of salvation or not at all; coexisted in peace. The word Hindu in itself seems like a terrible oversimplification of our ancient heritage by the outsiders who ruled us. I don't blame them our culture may have been incomprehensible as its tricky & no one book, one person or one definite way to make them understand their subjects better. At best the word Hindu is an ethnical term akin to words like Afghan, Turk, Baloch etc. For me the new parliament still is an artistic masterpiece which celebrated every corner of the country. Besides its not like they opened a temple or BJP head office out of taxpayers money, this will remain for all to come.

Do you have a source for when this time was that we were all at peace? Especially with those of different religions?
