Guys I want to start a trend. Let us all keep these files inside of a dedicated configs folder instead of the root directory. It just makes life a lot less stressful for everyone

How very dare you! It’s supposed to be a mess so that developers don’t start getting any dangerous ideas about enjoying life or anything.

I'm all for reducing random dotfiles. But don't the tools that use these config expect them to be in the project root?
