What happened to Reddit might happen to Twitter if this goes on. The Twitter exodus is becoming a real possibility.

Threads/Insta is gonna destroy them, just like FB killed MySpace.

Muskrat might just be the dumbest motherfucker on the planet. Twitter wasn't just "a brand", it was so ubiquitous that "tweet/tweeting" was added to the Oxford dictionary ten frigging years ago. This is like Kleenex changing their name to X-tissue.

At this point, I feel like it comes down to two possibilities:

  1. He's an edgelord narcissist manchild who's been obsessed with branding things as "X" for 30 years and thinks he can pull this off.

  2. The Saudis (and possibly others) gave him a bunch of money with no expectation of getting a return because they want him to burn it to the ground and prevent another Arab Spring type event.

Kinda doubting this in hindsight though. Musk has really stepped up his game lately with the payouts and stuff, been seeing people post a lot more often on X these days ever since the payouts have started.

Unless Threads also starts to do the same, don't think it's gonna stand a chance.

I nuked my Twitter account around 4-5 years ago once all of the poorly moderated right wing nonsense started to creep in. Good riddance
