Anyone else have a phobia of finding worms in fruits while eating?
I am really sensitive about this subject since childhood. My paranoia has become such that I avoid eating fruits and when I do I take very small bites making sure there are no worms.
My mom says I have been like this since the one time I was eating a mango andI saw a worm coming out of it. This was when I was 6.

I usually cut fruit into slices instead of monching on it. That way the worms can't get me.
Worms and bugs in fruit doesn't bother me. Sure, I'm disappointed the fruit is ruined and I'll throw it into my compost.
I will say though the one phobia I have now after having worked as a cook for 20 years is I will never eat seafood unless I personally butcher it and cook it. You would be amazed at the amount of worms that live in the flesh of big fish.
Hol up so you don't eat packaged fish either? I've never found worms in sealed up fish
It's always a traumatic childhood incedent that causes stuff like this. You should check out Cognitive behaviour therapy. I've heard it's preety helpful for cases like these.
I have a similar fear for any large groups of crawling insects like ants. I have no idea why I have this fear. At times when it becomes overwhelming for me, I close my eyes and imagine that they are more scared of me than I am of them. This helps me put my mind at ease for a little bit.
I had a similar experience as a kid. I was eating custard apple as a kid and a worm randomly popped out. Been paranoid ever since.
I still like fruits, so I make sure I turn off every distraction when eating them. If I spot any worms moving around, I will consider that fruit wasted.
