This practice used to be about hygiene. Hats were worn to cover your head while you worked outside. As result hats were covered with dirt and sweat.

So it was expected that it was to be taken off.

People who didn’t take their hat off were considered unclean and rude to the host.

In India it is a sign of respect to the family or business you are entering.

Now listen very carefully. DO NOT bring the hat in if you plan to take it off inside. Only wear the hat if you are capable of defending your yoursrlf no matter what anyone has to say about it.

Be overly confident. And also passive aggressive so the message is clear that you just don't give a fuck.

Wearing a hat indoors is very Alpha, you should only wear the hat to assert your dominance over the competition….
