Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

Someone who's name I never heard of sent me a book as a gift. The book is about 200 pages, but the content could have easily fit in 100 pages or less. Also, page 3 says "printed in the USA", but the last page says "printed in Germany by Amazon distribution". The text is very generic self help stuff. My conclusion is this book was probably written by AI, and someone is sending out copies to get it to the best seller list. Holding the book doesn't justify the current price of € 46, and leafing through it doesn't give me the impression that it's dense in information, it looks to be just generic stuff.

Starting earlier this week, I don't have links to pages at the bottom of my home page anymore, just a purplish arrow button. On mobile (Opera) sometimes I don't have a button at all, or I have it but on the second page it says reached the end. Can I have my page numbers back please?

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, who passed away peacefully last night following a long and courageous battle in intensive care after a complex major operation. Since this seems to be the only community for distilling, I'll try and see if we can get some content going here. I've had this still as a pot still only for the last eight years. Decided I wanted to do some column distilling, so asked a welder friend to do some adjustments to the boiler head. He added two tri-clamps for me, one facing up for a column, one facing sideways for pot distilling.

Last weekend I cleaned it for a final time (rinsed it in phosphoric acid), and yesterday ran the first batch. Started with 5 liters of 40-ish % alcohol mixed with 4 liters of water, ended up with 1,75 liters of 93 % alcohol. It was actually a bit more, but the final 0,25 liters were of lower alcohol content so I put them in the feints yar.

All in all I really liked running it like this. I wanted to make it a bokakob style column at first, but decided to make it a VM because I didn't have all the parts for the slanted plate section. I might make this part later, but so far I'm quite impressed by the performance of the VM setup. I also loved the fact that it shuts down production by itself, as soon as the alcohol is gone from the wash, the yield slows down to a few drips.

So I just opened the front page this evening, and I suddenly see microblog posts mixed in with threads, which seems to be a new feature of the 1.9.0RC1 release. I get why you would want such a feature, but could there be a toggle to choose if you want microblogs on the front page or not? I know https://fedia.io/threads is basically what I want, but it's a different url from what I'm used to, and it's also different from what my browser history pops up if i type an "f" in the adress bar.

So, in the last ten days I've been reading the "dumb luck and dead heroes" series by Skyler Ramirez. I stumbled onto this series on Goodreads, probably in the "also enjoyed" section for another book.

Initially, I tought the books were ok, but reading them, I found the storyline going in some strange directions. I also find it strange that there is hardly any character development in the books. I dug into it a little deeper, and found that all of these books have been published in the last two and a half years, together with some other books 14 in total.

So, digging a bit further into his profile on Goodreads; He's currently reading his own books, books by an author named A.B. Franklin who just published his first book, and an author named Jack Bodett who has published six books this year. A.B. Franklin is returning the favor and reading Skyler Ramirez' books.

All in all, this makes me guess that these writers make extensive use of LLM's while writing these books. I googled Ramirez' name, and found his website. Visiting the website only confirms the feeling that it's all LLM and AI imaging.

Any toughts on the subject?

The toilet seat in the bathroom upstairs has two part hinges, where you mount two pins on the toilet and snap the seat and lid on. Something broke in the snapping part this week. Fixed it by removing some plastic from the clamping mechanism, put some epoxy putty in there and around the pins, then placed the seat back. It's still on there today, so it worked I guess.
