Some question about carrot flies, but not only!
Sounds like fungus gnats. They’re a mild hazard to plants and are somewhat annoying.
https://www.thespruce.com/how-i-finally-got-rid-of-fungus-gnats-8678354 Is a pretty decent rundown of what they are and what you can do.

From your description, quite likely. I dealt with those in houseplants for a decade. They're not nearly as destructive as aphids, for instance, but they're a pain. One time I squeezed a plastic pot that had a plant in it and the larval stage reared its head out of the soil like a sandworm in Dune☠️🪱

How do I turn fresh tomatoes into pasta sauce?
Start by sauteeing some onions in olive oil, with tomato paste if you have it. When they start to get translucent add some diced garlic and cook for a minute. You could also have some celery and carrots in the initial sauté with the onions.
At this point you can put in the tomatoes, and cook a bit then mash them up, with some water if they’re not that juicy. Some people like to peel the tomatoes… That means put them in a pan of boiling water after scoring them on a few sides, and then taking them out after a minute or two and removing the peels, then putting them into the sauce. I don’t do this. I just remove the peels after the sauce has been cooking for a while.
Add some salt. I find them my sauce tastes a lot better if I add a quarter cup or so of red wine such as Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. If you don’t have that, some red wine vinegar helps to stoke the acidity. Sometimes I throw in some onion chunks, some mushrooms, and you should at some point probably add some herbs like garlic and basil.
Some recipes say to simmer for a really short time like 20 or 30 minutes. I prefer doing it for quite a while, like a few hours, which deepens the flavor and caramelizes the tomatoes for sweetness. One thing that I found I like is to cook it on the range in a Dutch oven for half an hour, and then put it in the oven at about 325 for a couple hours. That makes a really thick sauce. Just be sure if you do it on the range top to stir it often.

That depends what you're cooking, I guess. I end up making lasagna or manicotti, and that could include any number of vegetables etc. If it will be served on plain noodles, adding veggies to the sauce itself sounds like a good idea.

Why would it burn on the bottom of the pan? You sauté with the other stuff, then it gets throughly mixed in. The way I learned was it needs to be sautéed a bit. I guess adding it later would work about as well, idk.

What? Why would that be his reaction? The fucking Republicans crucified him for an affair with the staffer, and this orange slimebag is highly likely to get away with it again.

Texas Is One Of America’s Most Fun States
A greater number of restaurants or whatever per capita doesn’t make a state more “fun”. Also for things like amusement parks, what’s the capacity? Anyway, back in real life, living in Texas is on average not very exciting. It’s better than god forsaken hellholes like the rest of the south I guess.

Target CEO says shoppers are pulling back, even on groceries
No shit. Groceries have gone up 40% in the past 1-2 years for no real reason while wages have not and things like housing are going up too. Amazing that people would be buying less 'units'.

ChatGPT generates cancer treatment plans that are full of errors — Study finds that ChatGPT provided false information when asked to design cancer treatment plans
I’m still confused that people don’t realize this. It’s not an oracle. It’s a program that generates sentences word by word based on statistical analysis, with no concept of fact checking. It’s even worse that someone actually did a study instead of simply acknowledging or realizing that ChatGPT is happy to just make stuff up.

Minnesota Fraternal Order of Police just released this
"When citizens are accused of a crime, they are given the presumption of innocence as afforded by due process. When there is an incident involving law enforcement, politicians and activists immediately condemn those involved and are scrambling for sound bits. They do not afford them the same due process but rather convict them in a public court of opinion while an investigation is barely beginning"
Well, that's an absurd claim. Simply being arrested for a crime is often enough for the public to believe that a private citizen is guilty, and they can lose employment, business deals, a marriage or relationship long before any "due process" occurs. When police are accused of a crime, often they face no consequences at all, and if they are charged, they get the exact same due process as any other citizen.

Why would that even be a problem? Plenty of blind people in ancient stories, myths and legends. Probably better off without this person.

"Men are bad at picking up on women's hints." What are your actual thoughts on this sentiment?
One problem is that it's very socially unacceptable to mistake not-a-hint for a a hint. Maybe people should stop trying to 'hint' and be more direct.

Apple Vision Pro Owners Are Struggling to Figure Out What They Just Bought
It’s a native feature of the device that allows its user to get enormous amounts of attention, in real life and subsequently online, by simply wearing it in public.
Sounds horrible. I guess I’m not someone who seeks attention at any cost like some people, it public is the last situation I’d use this thing in. I would feel like a complete dumbass wearing it at a coffee shop and waving my hands around.

Not too suave. Pretty sure "I'll dick you down" isn't going to work on most 36 year old ladies on tinder, especially in a transactional manner they could get fired for.
