A third of people called for jury service last year didn’t show up. Is the system broken?
I hope a link to a SPINOFF article isn't offensive. I found the article interesting and seemingly informative. I think the courts, including juries and jury duty, are important parts of society. I expect the compensation provided is a very small part of the actual cost for almost everyone called. But compared to other social obligations the cost of jury duty is not too much. It's not obvious from the article if a third or people ignoring the call for jury duty is problematic for the courts. Maybe they just call more?
