Madison on why she quit

Reply in thread

10 days is the legal minimum in Canada and most companies don't offer more than that unless you have lots of experience. My company caps at 15 days. So I say this is more of a Canada work culture problem than an LMG problem

When looking for a job, do you choose quit smoking for months at a time, admit you are a medical user and hope for exception, use synthetic pee, or use a detox kit??

Came here to say this. My first job was working as a contractor working with border services and required security clearance, the most I had to do was get my fingerprints done. The fact that someone looking for anything but very specialized jobs had to think about this is unimaginable to me.

How are my duties calculated if I bring more alcohol than my personal allowance from abroad?

Reply in thread

I also live in Ontario so I'd be paying Ontario duties regardless. Unfortunately it looks like that duty calculator doesn't list alcohol as an option. We would likely only be exceeding our personal limits by 1-2 standard bottles each at most so it's good to know we may get lucky and not have to pay the duties. I'd read on a few other forums that CBSA will often ask for the price of the least expensive bottle(s) if they do but I couldn't find that officially confirmed anywhere. Given that it looks like current duties are as high as ~80% for whiskey I was hoping that would be the case!
