As this is still a new server the communities you may want to join may not yet be shown on unilem.org. Use a site like lemmyverse to find your favourite communities. Copy the community id eg. [email protected] and paste in the search. Wait a few seconds and the community will pop up and you can subscribe. If you still need help DM me or reply in the comments.

I just recently set up unilem.org aimed at federating with everyone. Yes this will include meta. Some will like it and others will not but thats the beauty of the fediverse. You can choose your home or even make your own.

The server is still in very early stages but im looking for everyones input on potential issues I could face so I can start getting ahead of the curve of some of them. Im obviously aware of issues such as bot server and illegal content being fetched etc.

Any other tips on hosting or just is general is will be much appreciated. Mabye you know some tools that could help? Im aware this is very ambitious but i think its possible if done right.

Universal Lemmings was setup as I was unhappy with the defederation policy's of other instances that I was on. Other than servers obviously set up for bots/spam we aim to not defederate. We will even federate with bot instances if the community wishes. Though I find that incredibly unlikely.

This instance is still very new so you might need to search out your favorite communities again. Im still working on finishing up backend optimizations but once completed I will begin making more formal announcememts and guides on how to get around.

Im wondering what ways people advertise/grow their lemmy instances. I recently just created mine and would like to put it out there as one of the options. How did you discover your instance and what drew you to it?
