It's not doomerism, it's scientific fact. The climate is collapsing, entire populations of animals are collapsing or starting to collapse, forest fires and storms are becoming more frequent and severe and in turn droughts and flooding have greatly increased along with extreme heat events that have already killed hundreds of thousands of people that are too disadvantaged to have access to air conditioned places. Most of these are in poor areas of northern India and Africa that apparently you don't care enough about to fit into your malformed and lacking world view.

Thinking everything is fine is just horribly ignorant given all the readily available articles, youtube videos, scientific papers and raw data that shows just how fucked we are.

You're essentially putting a paper bag over your head and unironically saying "This is fine" while people on the other side of the shaky wall you put up die of heat stroke, drown, starve, or burn to death.

Yeah, it's cherry picked data. Although perhaps the US as whole produces more ghg's, per capita it comes in about fifth behind Russia, Canada, Australia and Saudi Arabia respectively (and first is "Middle East A" which is a cohort that includes Saudi Arabia for some reason).

^Where the claim comes from. AFAICT the claim focuses on consumption of products and includes the CO^2^ of creating that product (shipping as well?) to the states where it is then used. So, as China is one of the main manufacturers some/most of the carbon emissions created by those products is instead included in the United States emissions. In short, the US has the largest consumer base, so it has a larger carbon footprint.

The question I have then is; is this not included in the per capita data? I unno, and I don't really care enough to find out.

Food supply is dependent on an environment that is able to support plant growth and it is now becoming too hot and dry for most of the plants we rely on to grow. As droughts become more frequent and as local temperatures rise agriculture will become impossible. Coupled with the expected flooding of almost all arable land on the planet as the ice caps continue to melt at an exponential rate. This will in turn make all the oceans less salty while the CO^2^ that's been released into the atmosphere over the past 200 years makes it more acidic while also raising the average temperature by ~3°C which will likely create a mass extinction event of almost every marine mammal on the planet. We're already seeing this happen in certain places with fish jumping out of the water as the ocean becomes too hot for them to survive and whale starving to death as the krill they feed on die out as the phytoplankton the krill feed on die out too.

Yes, I'm probably as negative and 'doomeristic' as they come, but I still do everything I can to keep the earth from becoming an algae and jellyfish heaven that feed of the extinction of literally everything else.

I think about this every time I see someone burning gasoline to move themselves somewhere. Especially if it's purposefully loud. It's wilful ignorance to do that while the climate is collapsing and people are dying. And there's so many of them... like what the fuck?
