Demagoguery, something that Socrates critiqued as a product of democratic systems.

Socrates imagined an election between a doctor and a candy store owner. The doctor would tell the populace what they didn’t want to hear.
As Socrates described it, the candy store owner would say of the physician that he works many evils on you. He hurts you, gives you bitter potions, tells you not to eat and drink whatever you like. What fun is that? The candy store owner, however, would offer sweets and tasty things. He would appeal to what people wanted, not what they needed. He would provide easy and popular answers to all their difficult problems

unfortunately we have too many candy store politicians across the globe.

unless cell cultured meats come in a big way or there is a drastic reduction for demand of meat, overuse of antibiotics in the meat industry will continue which will just keep driving antibiotic resistance in bacteria even further. I don't really have faith in governments to regulate this (doing so would basically kill factory farming) so relying on new treatments is all I can suggest.

Russia halts landmark deal that allowed Ukraine to export grain at time of growing hunger

SS: Russian has pulled out of the deal to ship Ukrainian grain citing issues with getting restrictions on its own agricultural and fertiliser exports lifted. It is unclear if this move will drive further food insecurity in the global south however, as other nations have stepped up their own production and export of grains. Europe has also been a majority purchaser of Ukrainian grains which adds more credibility to the Russian argument that poor nations will not suffer as much from halting Ukrainian grain shipments. How this plays out and how it effects global perception of Russia's war in Ukraine is yet to be seen.
