US Facebook Users Can Claim Share Of $725 Million Lawsuit Settlement, But Only Until Friday

Reply in thread

kind of. from the research i did, the lawyer team can take up to 25% of that. so up to 180 million. and then there’s 8 plaintiffs that get 15,000 each. the leftover is divided amongst claimants. but i recommend anyone with a couple minutes (the submit claim form is very short) to fill out the claim. it shows bigger companies that people are actually doing their due diligence in keeping them in line. while i would love for very little people to claim so i can get a boatload, the point of these class actions, while compensation is good, is deterrence towards that company treating their consumers/customers like that again.

What is the greatest sin you've done in your life?

Reply in thread

you didn’t expect the complete denial of religion for oneself being a sin of following a religion??? the whole point of following a religion is following that religion. not following it is in large part a sin. of course there are exceptions, but if we are speaking about judaic religions (the most common use of the word sin), literally not following the religion is a sin.

More than 2,400 killed in Haiti gang violence since January 1, says UN

Reply in thread

“The gangs are only a problem because the US says they are a problem”

entirely false.

i won’t necessarily say anything about the UNs involvement and whether it should or should not happen. i have mixed feelings in regards to helping out a country vs the helping actually hurting. they are both true and possible outcomes.

but you do realize the number of people killed this year in haiti due to the gang is around the average yearly civilians killed per year under papa docs regime? this gang is a big problem for haiti. they are in economic and political free fall right now and a gang is capitalizing on that by terrifying the entire nation

idk how much you know about haiti or if you are haitian yourself, but my family lived in haiti and left due to this gang. they stayed for a long time when everyone else around them who could was leaving. but one night, this same gang shot over 300 people in a village less than 5 minutes away from my parents village, and they knew they had to leave.

gangs and danger have always been big in haiti. they are in every country, some just more well-hidden than others. but this is not equatable to that.

Homemade Tonkotsu Ramen

all hail the mighty ramen_lord. his work and testing is EXTENSIVE and it’s about as close as you can get to authentic japanese ramen if you pair tare, broth, and toppings appropriately (he has authentic pairings listed within the book for traditional, regional, and new wave bowls).

Why words like 'okay' and 'taxi' are universally understood across the world but survival related ones like 'help', 'water', 'food' remained nation specific?

oldest concepts in civilization? when the first steam powered automotive capable of human transportation was in 1769? and didn’t really gain popularity or actual usage until the 1800s?

i mean yeah that’s near the beginning of the US and also around the time other western countries gained freedom from european slave rule (haiti, 1804; mexico 1821; DR 1844; Canada 1867, but not adopting full legal freedom until 1900s). but for the most part, most every civilization is hundreds if not thousands of years older.

you know what’s an older concept than taxi? water. or help.

Homemade Tonkotsu Ramen

yes! also some smashed garlic cloves. i love garlic so sometimes i’ll add it in the egg marinade.

for the chashu, this was my bowl. i did the same thing you described, followed by broiling it for a crackly exterior, then cooled it and sliced it and cooked the slices in the oven with some leftover marinade right before serving. during the cooling and slicing, some parts were so fall-apart tender that i got some slices that almost looked like thick slabs of bacon and i took those pieces for myself. left the pretty pieces to my friends i was serving haha
