Solar panels for surveillance but none for affordable power

Reply in thread

As opposed to solar farms which require vast plots of land, power substations to make the power usable by the grid, and a lot more upkeep.

We already have vast plots of land being taken up by parking lots and buildings. There is a hospital in my area that put solar panels over the parking lot. It is really nice. Your car interior stays cooler. Many buildings have their AC cooling fans on the roof. Solar panels would also shade those and help make them more efficient. All of these areas already have a hookup to the grid. Substation may need to be modified but it isn't as dramatic as you make it sound. Also everything has upkeep costs, including oil refineries and power plants.

Evicted 82yo man sets himself on fire rather than leave

“I think often times the judicial division gets kind of the label of it’s safe because we’re serving papers. There’s nothing safe about judicial. You are dealing with people’s emotions each and every day,” explained Sheriff Johnson III.

The sheriff seems to care more about the safety of his deputies than the morality of dragging elderly people out of their home.

He does acknowledge that they are ousting someone from their home. But it is only brought up to reinforce the statement about safety.

“You’re taking someone’s home away. That’s their last stand like that. I can tell you the first time I bought my first piece of property, how proud I was to be a homeowner. That is the American dream. And you’re taking that away from somebody. You talk about a world of emotion. [I’m] extremely proud of our deputies because we really go above and beyond to try to help our citizens along the way.”

Revelations

That bottom left picture is from the TV show "Six Feet Under." In the scene the helium filled blowup dolls get loos from the net holding them down. A woman sees the dolls flying by and assumes the rapture is happening. She runs out into the street yelling, "Take me Jesus!" And then gets hit by a car and dies.

Imported US sweets with illegal ingredients seized

AFAIK mineral oil and petroleum jelly are considered food safe. In the food industry they are used as lubricant on machinery that comes into contact with food (like meat slicers or even soda machines). Petroleum jelly is also found in a lot of skin care products, like Vasoline, vapo-rub, makeup -removing cream, and is also used in lip balm.

That being said, oil & gas extraction has and is wreaking havoc on our environment and health. So, while these products may be safe for human contact, they have a cost.
