[Mirror] Sheikh Jassim successful bid to be announced - Qatari sources Al-Watan

I don't speak Arabic and I don't trust google translate to get nuance, so I'm going to copy and paste a comment from a different forum I frequent:

"the entire thing is a joke. Al Watan never reported anything. Any person who properly reads Arabic knows that the tweet itself started with “news reports:” and that it indicates the tweet was aggregating, similar to the bbc rumors page or a filler article that says “reports in Spain suggest…” with no info claimed of its own.

the editor was retweeting fake Fabrizio Romano accounts. He was simply fooled into thinking there’s were substantive reports elsewhere that the deal was done, and made a tweet indicating that “News reports:”The paper has tweeted 3-4 times in the past few months doing the same aggregating on Guardian articles, and even the Sun staying sheikh Jassim would buy West Ham if he failed at United.

It is a joke that it even made it to the stage where questions were being asked and so many misled, there never was a claim that it was done by the Qatari paper, period. "

Summer Transfer Window 2023 Discussion Thread

If the reports are true and we're not going for Kane, who do we want in?

I like the look of Vlahovic, I think he could be Ten Hag's type of striker. He scores different styles of goals, big enough to be a target, good touch and might not blow the bank as he's struggled to settle at Juve.

I do think there's plenty of options on the market that would improve us in that position (Hojlund and Kolo Muani for example). Anything would be an upgrade on Martial/Weghorst as our striking options!

Sensible Transfers: Manchester United

Reply in thread

Yeah, TIFO used to be decent before the Athletic takeover and the launch of TIFO IRL. Now it just depends who is doing the video. Jon Mackenzie does despise United as he's a Leeds fan, so I can imagine that may be why it was so heavily phoned in.

The midfield point about Camara is a good one though, someone that can cover at 6 or 8 would be good. Mount certainly doesn't fit that profile, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mainoo get a good number of minutes during pre-season in a deeper role.

[Romano] Amad Diallo’s future is still open. Man United will make final decision on Amad in the next weeks, he hopes for 1st team chance but it’s up to ten Hag. 🔴 #MUFC

I hope he can have a proper go joining the first team, but I do think there's something to be said about letting him develop in a place that he's comfortable and happy to be. There's no way of knowing if he went to a lower level PL side if he'd bed in and get the minutes he needs.

He clearly has a good relationship with the fans and manager at Sunderland, so I don't think it'd be a waste for him to have another season there.

[Mirror] Sheikh Jassim successful bid to be announced - Qatari sources Al-Watan

Follow up to what I just posted, tweet from the editor of the paper: https://twitter.com/fahedalemadi/status/1668574524391018497?s=46&t=9VaAnKpRpp3Ftvhr0VtiUQ

"For more clarification "Contrary to certain media and social media reports overnight, Al Watan is not owned by Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, and Al Watan's media report yesterday speculating about possible movement in the Manchester United takeover process was based on international media reports, as stated in the article itself, and with such news widely circulating periodically in international media for many months.""

What is your story of being a wrestling fan?

Late 90s for me. Found WCW Worldwide on Channel 5, then Sunday Night Heat on Channel 4. So I mainly got to see the jobbers & a few highlights. First proper memory was Royal Rumble 2000 which was on free to air tv in the UK, I had it taped and to this day Cactus Jack vs Triple H in the Street Fight is one of my favourite matches ever. Randomly flicking about channels on TV I found some very indy wrestling, FWA. It had CM Punk vs Colt Cabana on it, which showed me there was other wrestling than the big companies on TV. From that the Wrestling Channel Launched in the UK so I watched NWATNA (weekly PPV days were crazy), ROH and MLW as well as some Japanese wrestling, but it was all Japanese commentary, so I didn't have the brain power to concentrate for that long. I've dipped in and out over the years, I mainly stick to watching AEW at the moment as there's just too much to keep up to date with on a weekly basis.

[Fabrizio Romano] Saudi clubs are aware of the verbal agreement at final stages between David de Gea and Manchester United over new deal, but they're still insisting to tempt the goalkeeper. 🔴🇪🇸 #MUFC

I do think it's strange that we've yet to announce a new contract if he was going to be staying on. I do think that Ten Hag's positive reinforcement of DeGea in recent months was mainly to keep his confidence up for the run in, if he really wanted to keep him, we would have signed off on it wouldn't we? Or maybe I don't understand multimillion pound contracts. Which is likely.

[Romano] Axel Disasi remains concrete name in the list at Manchester United in case Kim Min-jae will end up joining Bayern as expected [next week will be crucial for Kim deal]. 🚨🔴 #MUFC

I'm sure Kim would have been a great signing, but I really don't think CB is our most pressing concern. I think Martinez/Varane/Lindelof+1 younger CB (Tobido maybe?) is a good group to go with. This is assuming we shift Bailly & Maguire. If our budget is still up in the air due to the takeover it makes sense to focus on gettng in a CF/GK first. So ultimately, I think it goes back to the Glazers being parasitic slugs.
