Dispatch reveals Nintendo Switch 2 / Switch physical release
Censored version. Wish I knew before I purchased it. Would have gotten it on Steam instead. Nintendo needs to grow up 😅

Ladybird announcement
Neat. But it’s kind of concerning to see yet another OSS project hitch it’s community resourcing to Discord.

Brand names that have become common words
Reply in thread
Both words are used, so I understand the confusion; also, sprinkled with a little misspelling:
Dumpster: The Dempster Brorthers, Inc.
EDIT: Just read the Dumpster Wikipedia page. The Dempster Brothers' had a truck called The Dempster Dumpmaster 😂

Way to buck the trend. If I wasn’t already on a solid FOSS password manager, I’d be switching to Bitwarden for this alone.

Question: Is there a Self Hosted Discord like app?
Check out https://stoat.chat/, it's the closest self hostable group communications platform to Discord.

Is Telegram really an encrypted messaging app?
If Telegram is considered an encrypted messenger, then FB messenger should be too. Works exactly the same. I don’t know about you, but being the same level as FB messenger should speak volumes to whether Telegram is “encrypted” or not 🙄

JellyWatch Review: The Best Jellyfin Admin & Monitoring App for Android
If this was open source I'd give it a shot. Not sure I'd trust a closed source application to access (and track) something as sensitive as my jellyfin library & usage.

Yeah, the fact that FB messenger uses Signal protocol, means the encryption is better recognized than the one used in Telegram. But the lack of on-by-default or the need to drill in a few options before enabling secret chats.. I mean it’s even named the same thing as Telegram.

Hm? Not sure which Signal you’re using. But it very much still requires a phone number to use. Usernames are not available just yet. There’s activity related to usernames in the GitHub repository, but no release yet.
They did remove the ability to send and receive SMS from their Android app. That was about last year or so.

Are canadians friendly to people from other countries?
Lol as a minority that's born here and lived in cities across the countr: Canada definitely has racism still. We are very diverse; especially in the bigger cities of Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
I recently travelled to NB and witnessed some racism. Wasn't anything too bad. I've had worse. But you'll find more ignorance than hate. Hate looms it's ugly head depending on where you go and what minority you are. I think for the most part, you'll be okay, you might get weird comments here and there, but most people will be nice as a general rule of thumb.

It’s three clicks. And it opens a separate chat from the existing one. It’s obscure enough that you could say the UX deprioritizes (which at best is not an actively malicious design choice) usage of end-to-end encryption.

Bitwarden 100% price increase
Lol for years I have been wanting to switch from KeePass to Bitwarden. Mainly cause the UX/UI felt nice to me.
My initial hesitance was that I didn't love the idea of my passwords being on someone else's servers. But I found out about Vaultwarden. So I kept my eye on it's development and longevity. Now that it's well established, I'd say I trust it now. Next I figured out a way to selfhost without exposing Vaultwarden to the public. Everything seems to be lined up for me to switch.
A few months ago, I decided it was time. After moving my passwords over and getting a flow working, I went to sort by most recent.... Oh wait. You can't sort by date. You can't sort lol I sat with this for a few hours and reverted back to my trusted and working KeePass flow.
EDIT: This is one of the most voted feature requests. Also, it's just table stakes! It's crazy they don't have this feature 😂

Link to their voice chat implementatoon.
Looks like you can enable it on self hosted version. Probably worth someone trying it out personally. Before giving up on stoat.
