It was and is a series of poor decisions by Reddit. Destroying the hand that feeds, the community itself, and your 3P devs. I’m withholding any rationalization of these decisions by Reddit. Whatever the reason(s), they reveal an out of touch and tone deaf CEO and executive team.

I’m very grateful to be here. I love building community online. It’s a shame so many spaces become toxic places. This feels like friends hanging out in a “third place” - not home, not work, but communal. :)

A lot of gaming communities I’m involved in are centralized on Discord. That’s mostly what keeps me there. If I have a choice, I’d pick Matrix for anything personal or non-gaming focused.

I don’t mourn Reddit, I mourn the people and ideas I enjoyed engaging with through it. But, I’m glad people chose to find another way to engage (such as Lemmy) vs. staying in that toxic system. :)
