Luckily I am a very community involved person who focused on other actually important things and it stopped consuming me - but I’m the depths of ED it’s very hard to see clearly , and you feel like influencers are your “friends” cheering you on- they aren’t. They profit from self-doubt and self-loathing.

Accidentally capturing a “my child is being silly” moment is one thing but you delete it and give the lesson about CONSENT. But S thinks it’s something that she should be posting it publicly? OK, so if people comment that they don’t want to get “early access” to an overpriced, cheaply made fast fashion factory romper (that she didn’t personally make herself with her own hands, so you’re not calling out her talent or skill or worth) she attacks with telling you that nobody should love or date you, then blasts you publicly? So people who cannot afford $140, and do not want to support a company that has now switched their manufacturing out of Canada (and who are constantly sending stuff to the same shine people who all fly around nonstop and pollute the earth) are all supposed to like the garment? You didn’t attack her body, looks or worth. You called out a clothing garment. If people were more concerned about actual genocide, and the rights of trans kids, being stripped from them, as they were about being told, the romper is ugly , then we might have more freaking goodness happening in the world. This is why I joined this- She was not speaking up for women’s reproductive care, she wasn’t speaking up for trans kids, she wasn’t speaking up for Palestinian kids being wiped off the face of the Earth. She also post her minor children without consent, at least informed consent. It’s just funny how many people stay in her circle because they know they could benefit from her financially. She copies almost all the art she does. I’m in the “art” field and I’ve seen so many of her things that she’s done months if not years before she does them. And while there’s nothing wrong with doing things we see online (hello, inspo) , it’s very disturbing to be getting all this attention when a quick internet search reveals most stuff has been done before. A few artists I follow did a Polly pocket build months ago and even recorded the process on YT. Moonlight Jewel (YT) aka moonlight_jewel_dolls (IG) and rainstorm.creations (IG) did an awesome Polly Pocket which was all posted in April. And they weren’t even the firsts!

OK the wording is very entitled. “last family vacation before [she] goes to university”? So she’ll be mad if she doesn’t get another vacation in August?!!!!!! Almost everyone her age does (I do), and it’s okay but it’s also very unimportant. I’ve never looked at my partner coworkers, clients or friends and thought “ew those jeans look awful when they sit” but I have felt pain from wearing jeans like hers and life’s too short to buy shitty clothes made in a sweatshop in too small of a size.

I wear yoga pants or leggings and comfy dresses, and if something doesn’t fit I get it tailored, take it in myself or give it to a friend. But if they aren’t here, Bri has done a lot of work that is a copycat (like the bubble gum thing). I’m in the field and am paid well for what I do , and I’ve not lost out on business from Bri doing what she does, so her getting jobs doesn’t affect me. I’ve also done a lot of free projects, and I never post or allow photos or articles about pieces if it’s a nod to another piece (for a private commission) and I must disclose original artists for any variations I’ve done on different artwork.

I think some of her work does have merit, but it’s just so weird and outdated to see pretty, white, thin, cisgender women (or white presenting, because I don’t know Bri’s background) constantly “hired” for things, and the same friend group showing up to each event.

I’m sure Bri is a pleasant human with a passion for art, and that’s so cool! Art is awesome. Nobody needs perfection in all pieces, but sometimes suggesting craftspeople who are more capable is a way to uplift fellow artists and ensure the piece is done properly. And then, if there were a job that were more suited to her abilities than they would in turn, do the same for her. If I’m asked to do something I haven’t perfected I’ll bring a friend or fellow artist on and work with them, or pass along an artist’s name and simply say “I know someone who is more suited to this project”

Dannah has said (in previous videos) that kids shouldn’t be featured online , that you should never post where you are or what your kids names are, when you’re on vacation or when you’re coming back, no names on clothing, no telling strangers your name. Maybe Nana is trying to be passive aggressive about her daughter to improve her grandkids safety? To be frank, if she spent more time focused on :

4. Recognizing her extreme privilege to have tattooed eyebrows, fake long blonde hair and procedures as upkeep (on top of two homes, $$$, white privilege) ,

Then maybe she’d stop caring about her vessel! Almost ALL of my friends bodies (who have had kids or not) look exactly like this at 40+. We are NOT out here focusing on our bodies, but we are actively calling out people like her who give us 40+ crowd a bad rep of being vapid consumers stuck in egotistical high school mentality. Also, my friends who work out, compete and train for things have super kickass physical bodies but they are OLDER! Nobody looks the same as they age. And maybe I just have a better family or friends who don’t talk about our bodies, and she’s stuck with an unsupportive spouse, family and friends who let her make this her “thing” but they really do need to tell her she’s fine, it’s a body, it’s nothing worth singling out, and that she could be more and know her worth without a focus on her vessel.

Go read about Tim’s and their backtracking on their egg sourcing (they had originally agreed to ensure eggs were ethically sourced- places like A&W use ethical eggs, but they renamed in the deal again and again, despite them being able to afford the ethical eggs- again this is very very summarized).

Thanks J. I’m laughing at the replies to my comments on the art (from an account that is defending her art - an account started 2 days ago on lemmy who have only posted about this Polly pocket “art”😂).

As an artist myself with my art featured on albums, billboards, charities, products, restaurant walls, etc, I feel upset when I see really bad quality praised (because of B’s status, not talent). If I hired someone to collab on something and I saw the drips, gaps, rough surfaces I would not accept it. It should be a back and forth process for collabs so it’s on Polly pocket too for allowing this poor craftsmanship to happen. It’s okay if companies tell people they need to do some revisions- it’s part of the process. Not every first draft of my work is the “final product”, and I’d be mildly insulted if people just accepted my first drafts or prototypes. There should be no walking on eggshells when it comes to showing your artwork, and feedback about quality is important. Art is subjective, but quality is not.

If a friend was giving this to my child as a gift? Awesome! But a paid project? I think as artists we can say : there are others who would do a far better job, and if it weren’t B , it would get called out too. If there weren’t “influencers” showing up and covering this, it would be called out.

I am pretty pissed off (after looking at the instanavigation at her profile) that people are commenting how it’s unaffordable and she replies with payment plan stuff. During an economic crisis, where she’s making money doing nothing but pushing off vulnerable people with (likely) little (to no) financial literacy to buy stuff with her codes or her collab stuff, she’s coming out to look pretty villainous. Her assuming that people are poor because is they don’t know how to budget their money or that they should be making payment plans is so friggin dangerous and classist. In general people in Canada are poor, because they do not have generational wealth, they are immigrants, and have been robbed of opportunities that should be given to them but are not because of the racism in our country, or because they refused to do things that debase themselves, and take advantage of others, in order to make money.

She could have replied to people saying it’s too pricey with “I am doing a free giveaway if you want to take your chances with this” and even had more traffic to her page by forcing people to comment some stupid word on a post.

I also noticed that her husband replied back about a comment and basically told someone to stand in the middle of the highway? What is going on with this? I’m so glad I’m not following her anymore.

I haven’t gone to the S&T page in ages, but has she said any proceeds from sales are going to any type of LGBTQIA2S charity since she’s said she’s part of the community? This is pride month after all. It is a missed opportunity. Of course, she has friends that she wants to send stuff to, but she literally could have chosen only people in the LGBTQIA2S or Indigenous community (Indigenous History month too) for her PR.
