Scott Pilgrim Takes Off | Official Trailer | Netflix
Reply in thread
the film doesn't explore it as well as the comics did, but the story is about scott being a shitty, under-developed 23 year old. he is confronted with his past and forced to reckon with how terribly he has treated the women in his life. scott is supposed to help ramona defeat her evil ex-boyfriends but is faced with that prospect that he could become one if he doesn't become a better person. i'd really recommend reading it as the film gives the wrong impression of the story

Meta ‘blacklisted’ developer after learning his VR fitness app will also launch on Vision Pro, lawsuit says

The more likely reason for blacklisting the developer is to cause a chilling effect on other developers. Apple has one of the best developer ecosystems and Meta is likely terrified of letting their developers anywhere near Apple. Having good apps is so important to a platform

‘Futurama’ Renewed for Two More Seasons at Hulu

Yes, it does get better, in my opinion. Keep in mind, the show has never been very popular. It constantly got cancelled due to low ratings.
The love and hype around it is distorted because it is beloved among internet nerds, which means you get a false perception of popularity on sites like Reddit or Lemmy

I’ve been using Kagi lately and one of my favourite features is the ability to raise or lower the priority of a website in your searches. You can even just outright ban a site from your search results

Rant: I hate the term “normie”.

Actually I think it is quite a stretch to call them feminists in any way. 99% of the time they ally with the far right and many of their leaders advocate against things like contraception and healthcare for women

Build Submitted to Apple - 0.1 - That swipe tho 🤌
LOVE the new app icon! I guess I’m a minority that wasn’t a fan of the other one. The colours were just a tad too gaudy for me.
Also just generally loving all the new features and care being put into this app.
A couple notes:

why do mastodon toots have more boosts then favorites?
Iirc it’s due to the way federation works. You can see the real number of boosts but the favourites only show the amount from people who are on the same server as you. It’s not reflective of the real number

Google asks Congress to not ban teens from social media
I think we need to keep children off the internet but there’s not really a way to do that other than having parents be more responsible. I think public shaming could work wonders in this area

I need to know how they are handling the server costs involved… even if you host your own instance for just your own uploads, you are still going to be paying a lot whenever people are watching those videos, no?
Video is a way different ballgame than regular social media imo

The Political Divide Between Men and Women Is Getting Wild. One Party Is Primed to Take Advantage.
Isn’t this the one that was shown to have biased data due to opt-in polling? Randomized polling shows less of a divide and more liberal views amongst young people. I can’t find it right now though
