Pie in the face.
Without exaggeration, doing this now (depending on the person) would risk life imprisonment for bioweaponry terrorism, or just getting shot

Motorola's 2027 flagships will officially support GrapheneOS
I love graphene, but I hope they're planning to also roll out some very strong stock software - or else this will make for a very rough first impression on a large audience of normies and hurt graphene's long run chance of success. The camera, gallery, and app store in particular will not come up to many users' standards.

Yeah by "switch to" they probably do mean flash. I could have sworn they had plans to ship Graphene phones but maybe that's a later phase.

This California town booted out its leaders. Now they’re refusing to leave
Prime example of why I don't think America will improve any time soon. Even when you miraculously pull together a motivated and unified populace AND overcome bureaucracy, those in power can just.... Disobey you?

Behold, "the whole story of Steam's economy in one picture": the top 1% of games earn 84.5% of estimated revenue, and most games barely make anything

A lot more than just the economy, it's like a law of nature. Even language itself obeys it

GrapheneOS: The initial devices with GrapheneOS support should be available in 2027. The initial devices will be flagships so they'll be higher end hardware than Pixels at a higher price.
Reply in thread
They are, but historically they've been at an unusually low price point for what they offer. I think the latest upcoming Pixel is the first to be priced more "normally".

Christina Ricci shared a post shaming Jimmy Fallon for having Conor McGregor on his show
No surprise. Fallon is barely even human. Just a hollow machine for propagating the system's needs.

"Trippy" Reality
All this brain hallucinating reality stuff pisses me off because people use it as a springboard to say that reality is subjective or something, as if a blood clot in my leg that I'm just not aware of can't REALLY kill me. There is a uniform and self-consistent reality which we all have only limited perceptual awareness of. The great value of science is to give us greater access to that reality, not to fabricate wishy-washy arguments for how that reality doesn't exist or doesn't have meaning (see comment below for clarification here)

'People are scared to death': Members of Congress fear for their safety after Charlie Kirk assassination
If AOC is cancelling events it's because of fear of retaliatory action on the right, but NBC won't title it in such an honest way.
Also, "one is even vowing to carry firearms" lmao. I'm all for people's right to bear arms, but it doesn't protect you individually from an assassin. What, if only Kirk had a pistol on him, he could have whipped it out and shot the other bullet in half before it hit him, like the fucking Matrix?

Goals.
This is a great example in support of something I often think about. We see our consciousness as "me" and as "the thing in charge" of the body, but really it's more of an ancillary subprocess that the body runs for its own benefit. It's just a special subprocess that does its job best when it mistakenly thinks of itself as being the boss of the body.

the baddies
I dunno, it's a pretty huge deal of a change. It's literally historic and a major sign of the times. As others have pointed out, I actually enjoy this less duplicitous name. But the context of the change does not bode well.

Anon doesn't enjoy anything
The feel-good (and still very fake and gay) greentexts were always the worst, and largely because of these cringe messages. Implying becoming Christian was the first step. I wouldn't be surprised if these types of posts are just grassroots conversion attempts from various evangelists.

What am I missing with Matrix?
Omg I love this thread and this post. Sometimes I feel like everyone is crazy when they suggest alternative software.
People will be like "hey the best burger place in town closed can anyone recommend an alternative?"
And then a bunch of farmers show up like "yeah dude buy this calf and then just raise it real quick and also plant some trees to get wood for your smoker, you have a smoker right? Anyways yeah it's so easy bro I don't even know why anyone buys corporate burgers tbh."
And you say "hmmm okay sounds like a lot of work but I guess I can try it?"
And you try it and it's the shittiest blandest burger and it doesn't even have any sauce or lettuce or tomatoes because fuck you those things are for corporate burgers and if you want to complain why don't you open up a tomato branch and start contributing tomatoes then and waaah waaah why won't the stupid normies eat my shitty burger that takes 6 months to make and doesn't have ketchup waaaaah it must be because everyone is dumb and lazy

‘We are in a war’: rightwing media vow retribution for Charlie Kirk killing
"It’s really hard to radicalize Republicans. You know, it’s – we’re not the radical type."
They really just say whatever the fuck they want lol. Q Anon, Tea Party, Jan 6? The vast majority of political shootings in the last twenty years? As if we haven't all seen the comments ON Fox News saying the most radical shit imaginable.
It's really crazy how reality has just become totally irrelevant.

After getting Jimmy Kimmel suspended, FCC chair threatens ABC’s The View
"Carr appeared yesterday on the radio show hosted by Scott Jennings, who describes himself as "the last man standing athwart the liberal mob.""
One of the biggest things that pisses me off about the current, and really long-standing conservative narrative, is how they try to market themselves as the underdogs. Oh poor me, I'm the one strong soldier against the evil hordes of liberals!! Like, bro. You're the chair of the FCC. You're shutting down shows with no resistance. You're all getting everything you want, You've been getting everything you want all year long. That's not an underdog type situation. It's so deranged to be the literal people in power and yet still talk endlessly like this. Last man standing?! What about the literal majority of the country that voted for Trump?

Texas is about to ban talking on college campuses at night. Seriously.
" a similar policy at Indiana University that required prior approval for protests on campus occurring between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m"
Kinda off topic but I think we need a different word for this kind of "protest". If you're gathering at a place chosen by the people you're protesting against, at a time chosen by the people you're protesting against, you aren't protesting. You're having a protest-roleplaying picnic

TIL: Rotten Tomatoes is owned by Comcast (75%) and Warner Bros. Discovery (25%)
No wonder I find their scores so unreliable
Edit: I also now kind of want to do a web scraping project and see if there's any correlation between scores and whether the media in question is owned by Comcast or Warner Bros

The Great Men theory of history is wrong
This is such a misrepresentation though, because if Trump was the only asshole and everyone else was cool, he would just be exiled somewhere or completely ignored and pitied as a sad powerless little weirdo. It wasn't one guy who made everyone's lives worse, it was millions of assholes, and hundreds of millions of accessory assholes who helped to create the kind of Advanced Assholes that help Trump, etc.
Trump is just an avatar of assholes, despite being totally selfish, his position of power entirely depends on the constant support of others, the support of institutions which support him, etc.
This is why its hard for me to be excited about his acolytes burning their maga hats, or even to be excited about Trump inevitably dying soon. It doesn't mean that people have woken up and become less shitty. It just means they're disillusioned with this avatar and now want a new one to even more accurately carry out their collective asshole will.

Matthew Dowd No Longer With MSNBC After Furor Over Comments Following Charlie Kirk Shooting — Update
Reply in thread
THAT getting him fired so immediately is all the proof anyone should ever need to never trust commentators from MSNBC again.
