and what?!

I think it pretty accurately hits the vibe of government secret projects in that it simultaneously sounds harmless and a little silly, while also being vague and unusual enough to have a certain foreboding to it. E.g "the gadget"

Team Snapchat still shows up in my notifications even though I have them blocked

Definitely an annoying situation, I guess maybe you could try posting about the problems that you see with Snapchat, like with articles and whatnot, whenever you have a chance, and maybe just trying to get them to change their stance on it. For me personally, leaving Snapchat was a privacy and ethics choice - and anyone who wouldn't respect that, good riddance. I only really have two friends myself. I enjoy it usually. I get to spend lots more time with them, and an exchange have a deeper connection. Its not for everyone though.

Probably a stupid question, but does there exist a plugin or tool that can remove (or diminish) wah pedal effects from an isolated guitar track?

Eeeesh that seems like a tall order. I would maybe just look at the signal through a spectrum analyzer in maybe a couple different display modes and look for where the peak frequencies are. or look at a spectrogram and just kind of eyeball a visual average from the heat map. because I'm thinking in order for the sound to still totally fit in it has to either have harmonics and peaks in some sort of tonal way, or oscillate around an average that does.

I'm starting to unironically like Tarot

Yes I agree. I don't believe tarot is in any way real or powerful or magic or anything supernatural, metaphysical etc. But I DO think that it serves as essentially a randomized nudge generator to your subconscious, and it's particularly good at it because the imagery and symbolism is so rich and exciting that it drags up a lot of things from your mind. It's a good way to prompt yourself to look at things a little differently. Not magic, just psychology. But very fun

The Silence on Climate Change Is Totally Unacceptable

Current Affairs is alright by me, they're one of the few places I like to get news. But this was a lot of rambling missing the big point that is, sadly, I guess too radical for them to either understand or feeling comfortable saying aloud.

WHY are the Democrats silent on climate change? Many of us here know the answer (although you might get called a bot or a tankie for saying it, for some reason). The obvious explanation is that the Democrats are a paid-off dissent storm drain to channel the populace's displeasure into harmless useless corridors where all its momentum dies. I'm sick of articles like this skirting around it like "why are the Democrats so stupid? Why don't they understand what we keep telling them?" When there's one obvious answer and no others. They're not stupid. It's on purpose.

Bro thank you for saying this. I was gonna say I'm starting to dislike this yes but person. No surprise since they're probably popular on Instagram. Not many Instagram popular people that aren't kinda stupid. Gotta be peddling stupid to appeal to a majority of that crowd tbh

They prevent liberation by selling you back your chains with populous rhetoric and slogans

Realize that this post is not made by a hexbear user, not on a hexbear comm, and being enjoyed by users that also aren't on hexbear. What you have here is actually nothing but evidence that these views are held by more than just hexbear users. Yet with your way of thinking, you somehow manage to recast evidence against your belief that "the only kind of people who like this stuff are hexbear users and all that comes along with that" as evidence for that same belief.

It would be like if I thought that vaccines are a hoax to make money, and when my doctor best friend says "actually vaccines are legitimately good for you bro" my reaction isn't "oh this is evidence against me" but I just say "ahhh big pharma mentality is leaking, they must have got to him!"

It's a subtle way of trapping yourself into an unfalsifiable belief system. Be careful!

Texas anti-ICE protesters convicted of terrorism charges sentenced to at least 50 years in prison

I mean, this is obviously not great, but in ANY government, under ANY leadership, firing a lethal weapon at the appointed law enforcement people is gonna be harshly punished. Same for destroying property and whatnot. Free speech and protesting is a very different thing from literally shooting at people.

Yeah, I know I'm about to get flamed for saying that. So I may as well reinforce like, yeah, fuck Trump and the administration and the government in general, but like....again. Who is it that you want to see in power, who is it you want to elect, who is it you're rooting for that wouldn't punish this harshly? It seems like people are just reading "protestors" here and not really doing their research. These people weren't your garden variety protestors. I don't think people being imprisoned for shooting at police is really a sign of fascism or anything else. And there are so many other better signs of it nowadays, I think this is just a weird issue to get freaked out about. Anarchism is just about the only form of society I can think of that wouldn't punish this to a similar extent.

Canonical's New AI Tool Wants You to Talk to Ubuntu Instead of Type

Reply in thread

The term used in academic literature and the field itself for that kind of technology is and has been AI for at least ten years. Intelligence doesn't imply independence anyways? And besides, even if it did, thats why an entire 50% of the term consists of the modifier "artificial". So like, you're right that it isn't intelligence in the colloquial sense. It's artificial intelligence in the technical and standardized sense, though. The use of term is pretty much totally undebatable. Just because people don't like the term now doesn't change that.
