This is said as if they wouldn't ban the left otherwise, or are not already banning being trans or books right now.

If you don't want to color with your opinion, use a different word than shadowban. They didn't do this with malice as the connotations of that word would imply.

[Discussion] Should we defederate exploding-heads.com? (Closing arguments)
I'll preface by saying I'm not a user of this instance. My opinion is that alt-right is synonymous with fascists. Giving fascists any platform will always result in their attempts to silence you and take your platform away. I think the ability to defederate with toxic communities is a blessing we shouldn't fear so much. If their ideas are acceptable, they'll find an audience. Either by being accepted by other instances, or others joining theirs. I just think it's important to be loud about the decision so that if others want to hear their beliefs, they can check them out.

Why people keep defending Meta/Threads?

No, a third voted for Trump. Another third sat at home and didn't express their one voice to make a change at all.

Top of r/all
I feel what we're seeing is a lack of OC from actual humans, that is being filled in by your standard karma farming bot. Doubt we're at the AI filled posts time yet. Thinking those will be less obvious, and show up over the next couple months. So glad I'm part of a site without user karma. It means reposts are likely from passionate users rather than bots.

You choose what instance you are on. Quit the pseudointellectual whining.

Yes, because selling your home and moving your family and all your belongings several hundred miles is exactly equivalent to making a second lemmy account. Expecting sever owners who invest time and money into this to cater to your wants when making a second account is too hard is fair and doesn't come off as whiney behavior at all either.

Elon doesn't want you browsing Twitter
While I think it would be more than a few minutes, this would still limit people's time on Twitter. I can't imagine advertisers are super happy about that idea.

Should we ban users who constantly repeatedly trying to get admins to defederated from other instances?
This really depends on what you mean. It's one thing to make a single post complaining about an instance, or messaging a mod once to plead your case. If they're making repeated posts hoping one will catch, or campaigning a mods inbox though, probably, yeah.

Why are we showing our hand by un-privating the subreddit after only 48 hours???
I think it should be made public. As much useful info as possible should be migrated and then privatized on July 1st with a link to lemmy.

They're called fascists. They'll bang on and on about how your rights are being taken away so you should empower them to protect you. Then, the second you do, they'll be the first to take away the rights you thought you were protecting.

I'm guessing you have no idea that the mods of world and shitjustwork talked with the mods at behaw, and they all agreed it was the right thing to do at the time. You obviously don't know the situation, or understand that the fediverse is not supposed to work like a centralized platform.
