When do you start cheating?

The title says most of it, really. I've found cheating in incrementals to be a mixed bag - it tends to solve the most noticeable problems I personally have with a game's pacing but adds other issues in the process. It also spoils some aspects of the game for me. I guess other questions would be how to prevent players from wanting to cheat (not the usual 'anti-cheat' stuff, more on mechanics) or how to cheat in a manner that creates less pacing-related issues.

Links to lists of incremental games

I thought it would be nice to have a post containing links to lists of incremental games, as while there is a list in the sidebar I know there will be people who won't look at it.

There isn't any one knowledge base that contains a list of all incremental games, so I've made sure to catalogue the most well-known ones that exist.

Here's the list:

IncrementalDB - Contains many modern incrementals of many kinds. galaxy.click - The list linked to in the sidebar. Webgame exclusive, contains mostly abstract incrementals. Incremental Games Plaza - Contains many of the classics of the genre, although many significant new releases are not here. Almost Idle - Relatively unknown, contains many old incremental games which have been mostly forgotten.

You can also check platforms directly, such as the "Idler" tag on Steam, the "Incremental" tag on itch.io, or the "Idle" section on Kongregate.

Let me know if there are ways I can improve the presentation. I'm not too confident about it right now.

After a long time, I'm finally allowed to install applications on my Android phone. Do you people have any recommendations for free incremental games on Android? Preferably new ones, I think I've played most of the older ones already.

"Infiroad" is old but gold

Infiroad is a Japanese idle RPG made in 2016. It recieved an award on the incremental games subreddit, although as far as I know it never became well-known in the English-speaking incremental games community. I'm guessing it fared better in the Japanese-speaking incremental games community, but I don't know Japanese and thus can't check that place.

I would place this in the same subgenre as Clicker Heroes. The set of mechanics is (almost) fairly standard for games in that subgenre. Its primary innovation in that subgenre is the way in which fighting monsters is represented. In the game, there's a line with your units moving on one side and enemies standing on the other side. Through this, the game gives a far more tangible representation of progress and power than other games in the subgenre. One minute you're moving through enemies very slowly and the next you're mowing through them. It's simple but fun. My writing skills are not developed enough to describe how I feel about this game; just play it to get a feel for what it's like.

The link actually a sort of 'home page' that contains links to two versions: a WebGL-based one and one for Windows. I recommend getting the Windows version as the WebGL one will eventually stop working due to some sort of memory limitation. However, the WebGL version is good for trying the game for a few minutes just to see if you like it. Just don't take too long.

P.S. I feel weird using the term "RPG" in this context as you don't really play as any character on the screen. The closest example would be the hero character which spawns on click, but you can spawn multiple of those. But words can change meaning, and I don't really have a better term for games which take the mechanics from RPGs but not the role-playing.

P.S.S. I feel like this post is too long. Should I have made it shorter?

FairGame Season 3 has begun!

FairGame is an unconventional competitive multiplayer game where you're participating in a ladder climbing race for quadratic equations which for some reason also involves growing grapes (I took the 'quadratic equation' part from a comment back on Reddit, but I don't remember what thread it belonged to). The game's rules are relatively simple but the interactions that arise from these rules can be quite varied. It's also divided into rounds that take days or weeks with only cosmetic attributes being retained across them, which helps it avoid the usual pitfalls of competitive multiplayer incrementals.

With a new season, (almost) everything has been reset. A new mechanic named Wine has been added, and if you want to know what that does you should just go to the game's site already. There's probably been a few more minor tweaks, but I wouldn't know what they are.

The game doesn't click with a lot of people (myself included), but if it clicks, it clicks. At the very least, it's worth a quick visit to view some of the mechanics left unexplored in the multiplayer space.
