Beehaw admin is such a fucking liar wtf

Your kind cheers on Russian deaths, calling them “orcs”, then you have the audacity to accuse us of hate speech? Go on, make more orientalist posts about China, and then come back and lecture us on hate speech.

That's almost precisely the point. These shitlibs don't consider that type of speech "political." They have such a warped idea of what politics is. That kind of speech isn't hateful and political in their tiny brains, it's "common sense" and apolitical. Politics for them is exclusively Team Red vs. Team Blue, or whatever the local colours are.

There is a spectre haunting the lemmyverse

I had an irl conversation the other day which hammered this point home. Westoids cannot psychologically handle being called out on being wrong, not knowing something, and on being prejudiced. That and all the other material reasons we know and discuss regularly mean that this instance, no matter how small, is a thorn in their eye, a spectre haunting their dreams.

The comments are so cursed

It must be so easy living a simple extremely privileged life and disregarding anything you don't like the sound of because it's misinformation from Russian trolls.

The whole "Russian misinformation" thing has been an exceedingly good psyop on the behalf of the US intelligence and corporate state.

No, we're not liberals, we're communists. We talk shit about and dunk on liberals because we fundamentally disagree and take issue with the entire ideology. We take issue with being called liberals, because we're not.

Liberals have nothing to do with the left.

You can't be a liberal and a socialist at the same time, unless you're talking about philistine and opportunist social democracy.

Non-digetic screams just summarized this whole thing perfectly.

Is "Papers, Please" inspired by real events or just the liberal perception of communist states?

The last paragraph referencing the Holodomor, which is a hoax, and as is refuted in the breakdown I linked. I haven't looked into the various wage systems the Soviet Union experimented with so I can't speak to that.

To be a reactionary is to seek to conserve the current structures of power, ie. to defend capital, and in so doing to oppose revolutionary and even non-radical progressive liberal movements. It is not reactionary at all to look back on revolutionary movements in a positive light.

While funny, the concept of North Cuba doesn't even begin to cover the silliness of Taiwan being the true China.

It would be more like the Confederates retreating to Puerto Rico after losing the US Civil War, and still claiming that they're the true government of the USA. They'd also receive immense economic and military support from another global power, say Russia, in order to maintain somewhat hostile relations with the US mainland.

Communism and Authoritarian

What's a key difference between pre-colonialist Iroquois society and modern Cuban society?

The Iroquois didn't have to fend off reactionaries in order to maintain their sovereignty. They along with every other Indigenous nation all but collapsed shortly after colonialist powers arrived. Primitive communism may work great in relatively small groups with no serious external forces working against them, but it stands no chance against colonial or imperial violence.

How has Cuba survived three generations as a people's state right in the clutches of the global hegemonic empire? By walking the socialist road. If and when that requires actions of a forceful and/or authoritarian nature, so be it. The people have chosen to defend their state and their sovereignty over certain domination by a belligerent reactionary. They know their preferred destination, and they know how to work towards it.

Yes, it's authoritarian to defend one's sovereignty. Does that have to be such a bad thing?

Maybe State and Revolution is coming up on your reading list soon for more depth on this topic.

Damm Eastern Europeans and their fascist genes

The drill will take place across Germany, Poland and the Baltics in February and March and forms part of a new training strategy that will see the military alliance carry out two big exercises every year, instead of one. Nato will also train to counter terrorist threats outside its immediate borders. Nato secretary-general Jens Stoltenberg said in June last year that the alliance would increase the number of its high-readiness forces from 40,000 to “well over 300,000”. It forms part of a historic overhaul to shift the alliance towards heavy military capabilities as opposed to the light and mobile forces deployed in the Balkans and Afghanistan.

These ghouls want to start WWIII so desperately. I hope one day soon we can teach them that they are in fact the terrorists.

I had a thought

It's because of what happened after. It's not the violent overthrow of the monarchy in itself, it's the fact that the French replaced their monarchy with a liberal dictatorship of capital, and the Soviets replaced their monarchy with a revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat. It just looks like plain old anti-communism to me.
