Every couple of full moons I like to experiment with making my own map projections. Equal-area projection of the land and water hemispheres.
That’s the most helpful view of Antarctica I’ve seen. On most projections it looks huge or it’s hard to understand how it’s oriented compared to nearby landmasses.
So close to South America!

That was easier than I expected. On the Mastodon instance that I use, no previous posts show up (I tried a few communities on other servers). I believe that’s because no one has previously subscribed from that server, so they weren’t federated yet. I’ll watch them over the next few hours.
