Israel-Palestine escalation live: Strikes hit Gaza after Hamas offensive

Reply in thread

The international community has shown to be Pro-Israeli and thus anti-Palestinian. The Palestinian Plan for Partition was a plan to peacefully split up British Palestine into a separate Jewish and Arab state, as well as Jerusalem becoming a free city. The plan gave 62% of the land to the Jewish community despite the Arabic population having twice the population. Obviously the Arab population rejected this plan on the basis that it violated the right to natuonal self-determination, and thus this perpetual conflict was born.
Especially with the US being so obviously Pro-Israel and having virtually all power on the decision-making of the West, why would you think the Arab population would ever get fair treatment under an international "peacekeeping" mission?

Pope Francis calls for greater dialogue and cooperation between Christians, Marxists

Marx’s view of communism doesn’t inherently ban religion. His view of religion was that it was a tool by the ruling classes to maintain the status quo against the oppressed, and that under communism religion wouldn’t hold any political power because, by his words, the conditions that allowed religion to hold political power such as inequality wouldn’t be present anymore. But he didn’t call for the abolition of religion or that religion couldn’t exist at all in a communist society, that was more of a Marxist-Leninist way of thinking.

South Korea jails 68-year-old man for poem praising North Korea: Report

Had MacArthur had his way, Hiroshima would look like a safe haven compared to Pyongyang. He suggested using nukes "tactically" in North Korea to take out strategic infrastructure like bridges and tunnels. But that’s kind of like bringing a cannon to hunt sparrows. This was the US’ most celebrated general at the time on account of his success in the Pacific Theatre during WW2 and enormous success defending South Korea; what he said could really only be overruled by the President, which is ultimately what happened.
The top brass didn’t care about civilian casualties. That much is obvious when they suggest using full-blown nukes just to take out bridges.

"Alarming": Biden to Supply Depleted Uranium Shells to Ukraine Despite Contamination Risks [Democracy Now!]

DU rounds and cluster munitions are already in use in Ukraine, by the Russians. The damage is being done no matter what. So why is it suddenly a problem when it’s the Ukranians, who are desperate for any advantage to keep their country theirs? They’re certainly not happy with having to use methods that damage their land, but they’ve made the decision that it’s a risk they’re willing to take in order to not be annexed by a brutal foreign power.
