Here's my take which i have not seen in this thread. When you buy your hardware it is yours you should be allowed to do with it as you please. If you want to wipe the device and install another ROM or os you should be able to. Much like the recent fight for "right to repair" not allowing you to do what you want with your property should not be allowed. As long as the manufacturer blocks your ability to do what you want with your hardware it isn't really your hardware.

As a backend programmer I use it all the time. As an example I use it to determine percentage of total. I use it for discounts and taxes regularly. Figure totals of an order.

Well shit you got me beat I ran Slackware from 3.5 disks in the 90s on a 486dx2. I sent away for those disks to be mailed to me. The surface pro 5 is the most supported surface. I have been using it for a few years and it is pretty awesome. Pair it with a brydge keyboard and you have a hell of a laptop. I understand though brydge discontinued their surface keyboard

As a side note I also use a xps 13 don't remember the model but I have found they do not properly implement the sleep function and can cause issues when coming out of sleep. I have seen the computer act fine till I open something and then crash.

Totally agree with this and to add everyone's tastes are different which is why there are so many different distros. It is true there are some tailored for specific things but no one distro is better then another. Any app you install on one can be installed on another

you can use grub-mkconfig to verify the grub config and rebuild it if necessary. i dont recall the exact syntax for your distro so I would look it up first.

I think they should have a separate grocery store for those doing pick up orders. The traffic created from pick up orders drovea me insane.

I have a windows 10 install next to my Linux and I have to agree updates are awful. It might be windows 10 but 3 restarts for an update and the system runs like crap until the update installs. I removed a windows 11 install a while ago because I only used it to play 2 games and it might sit dormant for a few days or longer and when I got back into windows it was unusable until the updates finished. I am running 64GB of ddr4 and a 16 core amd ryzen 9 with a 16GB 9070xt. Hardware is not the issue in my opinion.

The display on my laptop is 4k and i can tell you i tried downscaling it was not as big a difference as simply turning the brightness down as low as was comfortable.

Virb indicates a virtual driver. Are you running this Linux in a VM? Do you VM software installed. I think you may have installed the vmtools and it messed with your physical Ethernet. Virb is showing connected what do you get with an ip a? Does it show all the devices? Do any of them have an ip address?
