Potential upgrade

Hello!

I attempted self hosting a while ago, but it wasn't a very smooth experience because I had no wifi, no ssd, no room and no time. I want to get back into it, and I was wondering if I would want to build a new pc. I think it's a hp compaq 6200 pro Here are the specs: I3 2100 3x4gb ram 250gb +8tb hdd

I would be selfhosting alot of projects, and will try alot of new things constantly, but I definitely want: Jellyfin Immich Password manager Pi-Hole Minecraft server(modded) Qbittorrent

And I'd possibly want: File server(Nextcloud is cool, but it's a bit too complicated for me) Gitea Code-server Llm Url shortener

Computers here are quite cheap, and I could find an old office desktop with 10th gen intel for about 100€ with relative ease. I could also build it myself, with an old office cpu and motherboard, but that would cost more. What do y'all advise? Can this all be done on a budget setup, excluding the llm? Is upgradeability a problem in office computers?

Thanks in advance!

Broken 4080

Hello pcmr!

I have found a "broken" 4080 second hand for 200 euros in my neighbourhood. After doing some searching, I think it was a misconfigured bios and and incompatability with corsair's software, based on the description. They mentioned games crashing, corsair aio rgb not working until iCue is opened, screen flickering and random repeated reboots. They said the issue persisted on their friends computer as well after trying. Is this worth the risk? Would love some advice!

Thanks in advance

Triplebooting

Hello!

I'm build a new pc, and I am quite interested in hackintoshing, but I'm not sure what compatability is like now. I would have a Linux ssd, Windows ssd, and MacOS ssd. It will have an ryzen 7 3700x, and a 2080 ti. Is there any chance this might work?

Thanks in advance!

Jvc receiver

Hello everybody! I've recently picked up an old jvc surround sound setup, with the jvc-1070r as receiver. I've hooked it up to my via optical, but it doesn't seem to be working. I have an LG tv and audio out is set to optical, and on the receiver its plugged into "Optical in: Digital 3 (TV)". I also tried just tuning into radio, but that didn't make any sound either. It did say "auto muting" on the receiver though, and it didn't work with 2 other speakers i tested. If anybody can help me out that would be great!

Thanks in advance

Ubuntu touch on the fairphone 4

It looks like ubuntu touch on the fairphone 4 is nearly perfect, and the features that don't work I won't miss. I'm very tempted to buy a second hand fairphone 4, but I can't really find much on the experience of ubuntu touch. How do you install apps? Are there repo's that I can look at? And is it just branded ubuntu touch, or will any ubuntu apps made for arm work on ubuntu touch? If anybody has some links or personal experiences they could share, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance!
