A question for GNOME/KDE users

I'd rather not run software made by convicted child molesters
I get that sentiment, but what would you want to happen here, should he have just stayed in prison? Should he end up in a ditch somewhere? At some point reintegration into society needs to be happen, and i sure as hell think contributing to FOSS is a good deal better for everyone.

Plenty of people have been banned from GNOME, if you feel like he committed an infraction you're more than welcome to report the issue. But i doubt you'll find sympathy just clutching your pearls over his past crimes that have nothing to do with FOSS.

So he's still active, I guess your witch-hunt will continue then.
GNOME is not a single entity, it's hundreds of developers - it doesn't assign things to people. It looks like he's part of the releng team which gives him some responsibilities. The status quo will likely continue as he hasn't committed any infraction, though some people will refuse to work with him i guess.

GNOME doesn't really employ developers, it's mostly unpaid contributors with the occasional contract work. Canonical is the one that employed him - and no longer does.

I don't believe he's around anymore, he probably started using an alias once people "canceled" him. This is the internet after all, you're one pseudonym away from a fresh start.

A VPN Company Canceled All Lifetime Subscriptions, Claiming It Didn’t Know About Them
Reply in thread
It was obviously a cash grab from the company before fucking off, you can't reasonably expect a lifetime vpn for 30 bucks. Either it eventually gets repriced, or they start mining all your information like every other "free" vpns.

Path of Exile II Sets New Peak with Over 500,000 Concurrent Steam Players During Early Access
For anyone that's not familiar with the game, it's a slow top-down arpg with a souls like gameplay. The game is challenging but the progression can currently be tedious and unrewarding, the EA is also missing a lot of content that isn't ready yet; I recommend waiting for the full release if you want to give it a shot.

Steam On Linux Gaming Finally Cracks 3% For October 2025
Reply in thread
It's easy to forget what these "tiny" percents represent but steam has 132 million monthly active users, 3 percent of that means that we now have over 3 million linux players.

Concord : why did it take 8 years to make?
Game development isn't linear, projects get discarded in early development all the time. The development team starts small and balloons as the game gets closer to release; diablo 4 for example spent 10 years in development, 8 years is nothing special.

'These kids do not care about romance': Game devs want to know what today's teens want, and surveys say sex and romance isn't it
Reply in thread
Yeah there's some romance, but there's barely any sex. You can only romance one character at a time and there's like one short cutscene per character, with some being a fade to black, in a 100 hour long game.

The truth about linux having 15% market share in India.
Reply in thread
We could mirror your post for windows though, their only interaction with the OS is launching the browser. The vast majority of people running windows only use their pc to run the browser and the office suite, and they use windows because it's what came pre-installed.
I understand your point that india doesn't particularly care for linux, but by that same logic the world doesn't particularly care for windows either.

Sounds good to me. It's annoying that connecting to a store and a social media platform has become so normalized. I just want to play a game.

Kids have plenty of ways to get access to lootboxes that aren't gated by a credit card, not to mention these games tend to blur the line for paid lootboxes by giving "free" in game premium currencies. Most of these games are fully aware it's a kid playing, they just turn a blind eye because it profits them.
This whole personal responsibility is the same shit that the plastic industry has managed to pull, they are the ones doing it and they are the ones profiting from it, the responsibility is on them to make sure kids aren't playing their games.
