Big Tech Wants You Trapped. The Open Web Sets You Free
I remember reading a book that talked about public spaces and how we often think of malls as public spaces, but they have so many restrictions and ulterior motives that it doesn't really hold.
They're essentially the irl equivalent of centralised social media platforms. I hope once the fediverse really takes off, we can have 'official' platforms/instances that are run by governments that federate only to other 'official' ones. That seems like a better way to reach people, instead of Xitter.

TV shows are sometimes criticized for lack of realism due to most of the cast being too good looking. What is a show that has mostly normal looking people?
Most British shows, so Peep Show, Fleabag, etc. There's even Episodes, which makes fun of this all in a very meta story about a British show being adapted to American audiences and requiring only hot people for the new version.

TIL Woody Harrelson's dad was a contract killer and assassinated a federal judge
In No Country For Old Men, they mention this killing in a throwaway line (it involves contract killing and stars Woody Harrelson)

I think we should have a d666 made of three d6s, like the d100. Would be fun

Yeah, I sent that 'official government webpage' to multiple friends and they seriously asked if it was written by Trump himself. It's so surreal to read something like that and to know it's not a shitpost.

For the last one, another alternative would be "You're so resilient, it would take a moon sized meteorite to take you down for good."

The End of Children - The New Yorker
That was a much more philosophical analysis than I expected, but then it is the New Yorker.
There is something to be said about the fact that by the Golden Rule, we should only categorically avoid having children if we would rather have never been born (and while that's a popular meme, I doubt people who remain alive actually believe that).
