At least we found his epitaph

Reply in thread

There is a certified tape of him saying "grab them by the pussy" and lots of other extremely problematic behaviour that has been readily admitted to or else clearly indicated with verified evidence. Some things only have circumstantial or hearsay evidence—but it sure as hell ain't everything. By muddying the waters you are helping to weaken the case against him.

Majority of corporate Trump ballroom donors represented by 3 lobbying firms, watchdog says

Reply in thread

Fuck that. How about Americans own up to the fact that Trump is a symptom of long-term problems and is actually quite representative of what the US stands for these days. Once America has decided to elect a government who isn't outright fascist, then it would make sense to turn this ballroom into a museum to expose this nastiness rather than sweeping it under the rug.

Scurvy in Canada Is a Symptom of Our Sick Politics

Reply in thread

Sorry to say, but this is a very colonial mindset, so much so that you did not bother to look up their treaty. As it happens, Canada has a specific obligation under Treaty 6 to provide agricultural support/development, which they have failed to do and thus have offered a settlement to the Lac La Rouge Indian Band.

You should also acknowledge that centuries of oppression, genocide, and environmental exploitation are also violations of the treaty signed by the Crown, and failures to hold up the Crown's promise to prevent pestilence and famine... you know, like scurvy.

Please educate yourself before speaking up on matters of First Nations and treaties and propagating misinformation.

Why China's EV imports are a security threat to Canada

Reply in thread

Pointing out that the source is foreign-controlled does not make someone a 'China defender'.. it's a valuable reminder regardless of whether the content itself is biased. And considering it's paywalled, I would rather not give money to this US-controlled business, but if you could share the raw text I imagine the content itself may be of interest to Canadians.

OP, I took a look at your post history to see what you're referring to. I found one thread where, indeed, some people are hating on Albertans. Others aren't. I also found other posts, including in the Canada community, with people celebrating the Albertans going on strike.

I'm not saying you're misrepresenting the situation, and I'm not saying there's not a problem. But I do think there is a selection bias going on here, and if we were to instead strive to interpret comments charitably and as obviously rhetorical in many cases, I think we'd find that there's a lot less hatred against every single Albertan (and by sole virtue of being Albertan) than this post makes out.
