Mostly the atmosphere, the environment in the original is a lot more otherworldly like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and they removed pretty much all of that. They replaced moody art direction with more "photorealistic" graphics (at the time) and I don't think they hold up as well - this video shows it off some. The mutants are also scarier looking and more varied and it had much more of a horror vibe that was made more into action-adventure, and that applies to the combat too.

I did just find that it is actually available for sale again on gog and for only 1 USD more than this sale, so that's good to see. I still own the original release on steam.

This is a great deal for a very good game, but if you haven't played the original non-redux versions of 2033 or Last Light you should pirate them (because you can't actually buy them anymore) and try them out, because the Redux versions ruined some aspects of them.
