hot take, Arnold wasnt a traitor. He wanted to be a revolutionary and was very good at it, but internal politics got him black balled from promotions he deserved so he switched back to being a loyalist, which at the time was perfectly legal. The whole traitor thing is a great example of the whole "history being written by the winners" concept. And let's face it, WE didn't win it, the French did.
