'Feed' like Facebook feed or twitter feed or whatever social media feed. I guess mostly for the same reason as OP's. It makes people sound like brainless zombies just grazing on whatever is 'fed' to us by advertisers/whatever the platform has been paid to push .

How does everyone feel about Google Pixel phones?

I used the 2 and currently use the 4a (coming up to 3 years this Oct) but I think that's the end of the line for me on pixels cause they're just getting too big for someone with really small hands.

My three wants (in order or priority) for phones are: 1) reasonably small enough (pixel 4a just about fits into this criteria); 2) fingerprint scanner; 3) headphone jack

I've got a tiny jelly star from unihertz coming and if that doesn't work out I'll probably have to go zenphone cause they're just about the size of the 4a.

Pity as I do like the pixel line

What's everyone's thoughts on split or tented keyboards?

I started off with the quefrency, a split 'normal' keyboard, then started making my own (3d printed handwired) orthos.

Then I saw the alu case for iris and got tempted but am unwilling to drop >$300 on a layout I've never used before, so designed my own case with tilt and 3d printed and handwired that (all for ~£30 only!! split orthos CAN be cheap! - my first post on Lemmy was on this :D) And have been daily driving it so far

Column staggered is defo the way to go

What is something you've done this last 7 days you're proud of?

Reply in thread

If you're talking about long term working out, motivation will not cut it. It has to be determination/making it a habit. Like - "Time to take a shower", "time to workout".

But working out doesn't mean you have to push yourself till you feel like puking. Start small, do 10 squats at lunch and another 10 when you finish your work day for e.g.. Do something you find fun, not something that's just "well running is exercise so I guess I have to do that"

Do you descale salmon fillets?

Reply in thread

Yeah the fillets (all 3 linked in original post) I buy from Tesco Morrisons or Sainsbury's all have scales. I take them off with a butter knife and have to wash them sink down after so there aren't scales everywhere.

I'd be really surprised if you've bought the fillets and not noticed the scales before.

Edit so yes, to your first comment,

What you're describing as scales are not, in fact, the scales. It's just the skin of the fish

I was, in fact, describing scales. Not just the skin of the fish. Go be a pseudo know-it-all elsewhere please.

What's your favorite book(s) of all time?

  • the colour purple by Alice walker
  • the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I'm a sucker for books that have the main character fight so hard for who they are and who they want to be. To see their transformation and growth into the people they stand proud as at the end of the day? 🥺

And yes the MCs are both queer!
