Reports: Wolves land LaMelo Ball in blockbuster trade with Hornets | NBA.com
Feels like the Dame to Bucks last gasp type of move before Ant asks out if Ball plays less than 40 games.

GE-Proton11-1 Released
Helldivers HDR works with this release without the gamescope workaround needed for experimental. Proton-cachyos has issues getting HDR to work properly in other games like 007 too and GE11-1 has gotten HDR working properly in every game I've tried so far.

Komi-store: Android app store to install and update apps hosted on GitHub, Codeberg & Forgejo
Came out in Dec 2025 as Github store and changed their name with this release. How does this have 15K stars compared to Obtainium's 17K which has been around since 2022 and is very well known.

Getting started with NextCloud?
Can you elaborate on what you didn't like about what you've seen so far? I imagine most guides advise you to spin up an AIO instance of nextcloud in docker.

DNS traffic can leak outside the VPN tunnel on Android
"The report detailed how the user managed to leak DNS queries when disabling and enabling VPN while having “Block connections without VPN” on."
Not to diminish the severity of the issue but I can't imagine this being the factor that pushes the average person to ios over android.

Not just crumbs in the CPU socket: Over 100 AMD 9800X3D chips are now reported to have gone pop and the most by far have died in ASRock motherboards
"Mindfactory's sales information in repeated articles over several years, and its Ryzen 7 5800X, 5600X, and 5900X RMA rates are 0.58 percent, 0.52 percent, and 0.33 percent, respectively."
Based on some very rough estimates using mindfactory and amazon sales data, the 9800x3d is in line with or below 5000 series RMA rates.
If there was real cause for concern, the RMA rate should be much higher.

Arch Linux AUR Hit By Another Wave Of Now More Sophisticated Malware Attack
Reply in thread
It seems like a continuation from the DDOS attacks that still happen from time to time. If I was going down the conspiracy rabbit hole, I'd think some group is trying to keep linux in the press with bad/scary news to drive away growing interest and arch seems like the easiest target atm.

Sony’s TV business is being taken over by TCL
Reply in thread
I own a sony TV. The hdtvtest guy is my goto for staying updated on TV tech and sony regularly comes out as his best of the year. Yes, they're pricey but you're getting something for that premium.
This is a sad day in my books now that TCL will be able to enshittify the Sony brand.

Never-before-seen Linux malware is “far more advanced than typical”
Source with much more technical info: https://research.checkpoint.com/2026/voidlink-the-cloud-native-malware-framework/
Wild speculation: can this type of malware be used to infect Taiwan's semiconductor infrastructure and prevent the self-destruction they have in place in the event of invasion?

Canadian troops won’t be joining European military force in Greenland
Operation Arctic Endurance - military exercise in Greenland organized by Denmark. From what I can find online, which is very little, Denmark sent invitations to other countries to participate. We don't know if Canada was invited. What we do know from the article:
Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand is set to open an official consulate in Nuuk, Greenland’s capital, in the coming weeks, and has expressed support for the island’s sovereignty in recent public statements and bilateral meetings.
Other countries know where we stand. Let's wait and see if we get invited.

Self-Host Weekly (22 May 2026)
I'm counting down the days until they revoke all existing lifetime passes. With this change and the recent bitwarden price increases, we're definitely in the era of being squeezed for every dime from all sides.
Like many others, I bought the lifetime plex pass when it was relatively cheap but switched to jellyfin for personal use years ago. I keep plex running for family members but that'll stop as soon as the lifetime pass goes away.
