Not for me it isn't, at least when I tried to check out the Steam Deck 512 the price stayed at 779€, so for the machine it should be the same. I agree the price is way too high, plus I have 22% VAT so it would be even worse for me lol

F-Droid probably won't accept any builds with adware/tracking in them, so probably we'll just stay on an old version until a fork or alternative comes along. There's also a toggle on my preferred F-Droid manager app (droid-ify) to ignore new versions

Void is my favourite distro, although I haven't used it for a while. Extremely fast package manager, rolling release but not bleeding edge, super simple, very fun to tinker with (more than Arch imo). I stopped using it because I wanted something more popular for easier troubleshooting. But if I ever get a secondary PC/laptop I'll probably start using it again.

One example would be HDR, here and here are two articles I found after a quick search. I'm no dev, but I know HDR is a complicated beast and more importantly not critical infrastructure so community developments are slow or non-existant. If you check who has been contributing to HDR it's always big corps like Red Hat, AMD and Valve.

I wish I had the willpower to stop wasting days in front of my PC and go out more, but it always feels impossible, no close friends, no car, live in a small town with an average age that's probably in the 50s. All I do is go to work and come home to sit in my room. I also hate talking to new people over voice chat (and it takes me some time to warn up to someone when only talking over text) so I don't do much socialising when sitting at home. I've been thinking of moving to a bigger city but that's a whole other can of worms and doesn't fix my ability to hold conversions past pleasantries

And I believe them. The reddit post in Rossman's video was 3 years old. I have personally installed and updated 5 Brother printers in the last year and they all still run on 3rd-party toner.

They use XDG Desktop Portal, which makes video and audio capture system level instead of application level to enhance security. When a program wants to record your screen you get a pop up to choose which screen/window to share. After that the app can only see that window or screen.

Couldn't you just reinstall windows with an older ISO to bypass this? That's what I already do at work anytime I need to setup a new machine, gets rid of the manufacturer supplied programs bloatware. Plus Rufus has an option for triggering the bypass command automatically.

Guaguin is a sudoku-like puzzle game that I enjoy a ton. Instead of the usual 9-block square, this has random shapes with a number and a math operator on them. The goal is to have no repeating digits on rows/columns, and each block needs its mathematical problem to be solved. For example a block labeled 20x needs to filled so that all the numbers inside of it multiply to 20.

This reminded me of a few months ago when I went to Milan with a friend. I used Organic Maps for getting around and they used Gmaps. Their phone was always trying to get us to walk as little as possible, using EVERY possible combination of metro, tram and busses for even the shortest trips, it was insane. Change bus here, ride one stop, get on the metro, change to the other line, get back on a bus, take the tram, it never ended. Same trip on organic maps was 3 changes on the metro and a 5 minute walk at the end.

Xonotic (arena shooter), 0 A.D. and Beyond All Reason (RTS), OpenTTD and OpenRCT2 (management sim), VVVVVV (platformer).

These are the one I've tried, out of all of them VVVVVV is probably the most polished since it was a commercial project that later got open sourced. BAR is pretty good too if you like over the top RTS games. TTD and RCT2 are reimplementations of the original games. I don't have strong feelings towards Xonotic but arena shooters aren't my thing so 🤷‍♂️

I feel I should mention Bandcamp, which gives 70% of a sale directly to the artist. In the music world that's a lot. All DRM free and in most audio formats you could want. My process when buying music is usually: bandcamp > qobuz (or similar) > if all else fails... use other means. I'll also skip step one and two depending on the artist :p

I never see toffeeshare mentioned. P2P, encrypted, no size limit. Only problem is you can't send folders, only files, but that's easily solved with tarballs or RARs.

Personally I'd love to see the CEO thrown out. Maybe then Tumblr will benefit as well.
