That's why no one with half a brain downloads the official Reddit app.
Most people don't have time to fritter on new tech, alt clients, etc. Honestly they're not stupid and I resent the implication--Reddit's just predatory. If we want an alternative to flourish, we gotta stop treating it like its a "smart people club" and being elitist about it

Conservatives go to red states and liberals go to blue as the country grows more polarized

The only way the red states will change is by getting worse and worse. They will have no doctors, teachers, nurses, lawyers, or corporations that will purposefully live or do their work there if they can help it. If you are a woman, a person of color, a migrant, an LGBTQ person, a child, or anything other than an old white man, the red states are no longer safe for you.
ah so if you're poor, taking care of loved ones, or otherwise unable to move, then your life is acceptable collateral damage? accelerationism has victims.

Wouldn't it be nice if instead of just bars with alcohol, there were establishments for people to consume cannabis while eating, playing board games, and socializing?
They've got this in Amsterdam but I would say it's less accessible than bars/alcohol generally due to how polluted the air gets (despite the best efforts of filtration)

I made the mistake of checking Reddit (using my last few days of Apollo) and came across a complaint about Lemmy that flabbergasted me
Idk, customized accents and images/identity is an accessibility thing for a lot of people, helps them have a sense of being where they're intending to be & not lost in the content soup, which I do think a lot of decentralized projects do fall a little flat. It's a tough line to toe!
(edit: i think i maybe misunderstood some here, but imo lemmy's ui could use a little more clarity and polish, but ultimately like its lighter load visually)

the iTunes Store app on your iPhone should let you buy ringtones! in the … /More menu at the bottom, then "Tones".
edit: good god the selection there is bottom of the barrel. good luck!

That is NOT what I said. I'm not going to criticize people leaving, and I think it's the best option GIVEN an option. It's a very exclusive strategy that I don't want to be endorsing. Obviously electoral politics are broken. Maybe we can use our imagination tho

Don't feel bad for the Moderators of Reddit

It’s similar to women who can’t leave their violent companion: they want to believe in something that does not exist, and will stretch their perception of reality to avoid admitting they’re wrong.
This analysis really fucking sucks lmao. Abuse also includes controlling access to structures of dependency (housing, food, money, social webs, children), so a lot of time in the immediate term and often long term it is a MUCH better value proposition to stay with abusers in the hope that they change.
Idk this is so victim blamey and misunderstanding.

BlueSky invite
i only say this because i don't think it's well documented, members only seem to get 1 invite per week iirc, so this is likely a big ask. good luck getting on there. OP!

Sometimes it gets so real you gotta strap jn
wait, hold up. this looks like an access device. i think someone maybe wouldn't do this unless someone needed it for tremors, muscle control related disabilities, etc.

I agree about the soft language they use and plastics are a BROAD category of materials.... but yeah, I like to be cautious around exposing them to heat and using them for long term liquid storage.

it's strong enough to, but i don't trust plastic not to leach out nasties into my coffee in those conditions, plus it seems to retain grossness :(
