Poor guy

The thing of it is that having a senate dissolved isn't a binary position. It doesn't happen overnight. This is something that takes years to accomplish. So truthfully the Senate died as a legislative body the day the emperor came to power. To clarify, I don't mean when he was elected the Chancellor but when he was declared the emperor. Democratic states do not have emperors. That was the definitive end of the Galactic democracy in the universe of Star Wars.

So when Luke joined the rebellion at 16 or 18, I'm not sure which age he was, the senate had been a toothless body for as long as he had been alive and the final nail had been hammered into place at the beginning of that movie.

Moderation conflict involving c/vegan

The comments in here are unbelievable. This post was about the systemic moderation issues that lead to the incident, the team's response to it, and how to deal with such a problems in the future.

Half the comments: CATS CAN'T EAT VEGAN

The other half: CATS CAN TOO EAT VEGAN

There are people here who need to go back to fucking reddit.

YouTube tests server-side ads to make your coveted blocker obsolete

All of these issues have reportedly led to an increase in ad block uninstalls, leaving users with the choice of YouTube Premium or sitting still until that "skip ad" button appears.

Oh yes, I totally believe that people are opting to delete their ad blocker, that works on not just YouTube but the entire internet, simply because YouTube has become obstinate and difficult. Who the fuck wrote this article? And how much are they getting paid by Google? Do they really think we're going to buy into this bullshit and follow suit?

The Short and Ridiculous Trial of a Protester Arrested in an Inflatable Penis Costume

https://www.al.com/news/2026/04/fairhope-protester-acquitted-of-charges-after-inflatable-costume-arrest-during-anti-trump-rally.html

She was acquitted of all charges, including the trumped up extra ones the city attorney pulled out of his ass.

But my favorite bit was this:

Snedeker said he was not 99.9% certain that Gamble should be convicted of crimes stemming from the actions that led to her arrest. She was found not guilty of misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, as well as a municipal violation for disturbing the peace and giving a false name to law enforcement.

I'm betting he was 100% sure that she was going to appeal if he found her guilty of anything and that he would be made to look like a goddamn fool by the appeals court who would read this and call his ass out. And you know that everybody in and his mother would send money to her to fund her appeal if it got to that.

Intel is laying off over 15,000 employees and will stop ‘non-essential work’

While Intel has absolutely been losing money on its chipmaking Foundry business as it invests in new factories and extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography, to the tune of $7 billion in operating losses in 2023 and another $2.8 billion this quarter, the company’s products themselves aren’t unprofitable.

So what I'm getting here is that the CEO and or the board decided to invest in something that is losing a ton of money and so now 15% or more of the people who have been working diligently to actually make the company money are going to pay for it by losing their job.

Big G didn't do anything

I'll never forget the disappointment I felt the day I found out that Alcoholics Anonymous is a christian group. The fact that one of the few institutions that exists independently to help people to get free of the crippling addiction to alcohol does so by shoving god down your throat is such an amazing let down. I had a friend who was a terrible alcoholic and also an atheist and the trouble he had finding organizations the could help him was so devastating. In the end the alcoholism eventually led to his death and I often wonder if he could have been saved if there had been a more robust network of non-religious substance abuse groups.

Harris Opens Fire On Trump: ‘Predator, Fraudster, Cheater’

Honestly, this is the kind of down-in-the-dirt campaigning I had hoped to see from Hillary back in 2016 before she tied an apron on and tried to convince everyone she was a sweet little motherly person. You can't be sweet and kind with someone like Trump. You need to gather up the shit he's piling up around the place and drown his ass in it.

So if Kamala is gonna bring the pain, I'm here for it. Trump needs to be beaten bloody on the pulpit. Because bullies can never handle being bullied themselves. Especially ones as thin skinned and stupid as Trump is.
