Is posting from #Mastodon to a #Lemmy community a good idea or will this just confuse everyone?
I think it's ok. Sometimes people forget that the first mastodon paragraph becomes the post title and these involuntarily bloated titles look odd.
It also would be great if following a community via Mastodon would mean receiving new posts only instead of comments too, which is annoying at least with active communities. (I mean it would be, I just don't follow them there)

I didn't know it either and it's avoiding not enough/too much information nicely. For me the cherry on top would be a link to a kind of 'No stupid questions'-Community for interested or new users.

Herr Laymann can't do it

Thank you for the link! I think both do and will co-exist allright. I think sooner or later there will be a German instance, so I'm rooting for sooner and for a solid foundation (like feddit.org) rather than a strenuous & vulnerable one person effort (like feddit.de...)

Feddit.org is great! But for some (potential) communities Piefed's flairs and tags are really great, for example. I think something like that is planned for Lemmy 1.0, tho.

Newish to Fediverse - do I use one account across all services?
The one account for all thing is often mentioned as a 'selling point', and as of now I think it's rather ill-advised, setting up disappointment & possibly obershadowing a couple of nice things in that regard. A rather smooth part of the fediverse is that for example comments you read may stem from a lot of different corners, and writing one of those should work fine.
Regarding number of accounts you could experiment with a min or max approach first and then adapt based on your needs and experiences. You could re-use the first half of your handle, as the comment about identity suggested.

After a very quick search I don't see a community for that purpose and the whole fediverse yet. The general fedi comms and the specific ![email protected] and ![email protected] could be linked there.
Maybe I'm overlooking something outside of Piefed and Lemmy?

I understand that would be for those three platforms only and not the whole fediverse. For the latter I opened a discussion here https://piefed.social/post/891425

Brainstorming a 'No stupid questions re Fediverse' community
My (non-expert) experience is mostly with Lemmy, for this case Piefed's flair-feature might me helfpul to sort through the questions.

And if you didn't join anything yet and feel like sorting sth out after some hearsay and the 'static' info on joinfediverse?
Right now one of the fediverse@... could be linked, but that may flood them with these questions and bury fediverse news etc interesting to regulars.
