I switched to Linux and it is "too complicated." Imo. There are a lot of compromises you have to make when you switch. I couldn't even get my first couple distros to work because they don't play nice with Nvidia.

I switched to bazzite because it would actually work graphically and I mostly only use steam anyway, but it isn't all rainbows. I feel like I'm always switching Proton versions to get a game to load. I use Proton db, but idk I still have issues. GoG I use heroic and have the same problems. Also, installing software is a pain. It's not that hard to use CLI but I get sick of it when I just want my shit to work with 2 clicks. Ive tried to run windows apps wlbut just gave that up. Also getting used to the folder structure and placements take time.

Plus, I can't seem to Google (or whatever) my problems. The help you get in Linux forums is usually " just switch to insert distro".

I've worked IT jobs for about 10 years so I feel like I have some knowledge, but Linux has stumped me a couple times already. How is an non-tech person supposed to just switch?

I'll never go back to Windows but you can't expect people to leave something that works for something that they have to fumble with to get working.

I think I'm just getting sick of rogue likes. It seems there is another one being pushed every time I open steam. I find them all way too similar and frankly the loop of roguelikes is annoying to me. So, I would like to see them develop something else, I don't see it happening.

Hades was good. Rogue legacy was good. Dead cells was good. Brotato was good. Vampire survivors was good. Wizard of legend was good. Star of Providence was good. After those, though, I hit a wall. So, overall I agree. I wish the industry would move away from the genre, but it's not happening anytime soon.

Credit card processing standards are heavily industry regulated. At least in the US. There are some state and federal laws but it's mostly Visa, Discover, and other cc companies that regulate and develop these standards. They have the teeth to stop all your credit card processing if you don't meet their requirements. Frankly, they actually do have decent security protocols and practices.

They take it seriously because they really don't want the government to mess with processing fees and whatever else makes them money. In some ways I'd rather it be regulated, but the current gov shouldn't be trusted with anything.

Yup. I usually search fedora when I'm looking stuff up. Usually, that helps but only so much.

I was installing mullvad. I didn't see it listed in any store repo I had so I used cli. It's not hard to do, but it was annoying getting the syntax correct because the instructions were for fedora but they didn't completely translate to bazzite. Probably because bazzite is half locked down or something.

Games causing me issues were Elden Ring, Resident evil 4 Remake, and Black Mesa (I thought this would work right out the box, but it didn't). They would usually launch then just close immediately. Eventually, I got the right Proton version that seems to work, but then I had issues downloading my cloud saves.

I see a lot of people are still giving me the "it just works out the box" talk, so idk. Maybe I shouldn't have reformatted my ntfs drive and just got a new one, but I didn't want to give up a 1tb ssd for no reason.

Ive been playing Assassins Creed 4. I played through 1-3 and Liberation. I consider 4 to be the best out of the non-rpg(ish) ones. Not sure if Ill move on to Origins after unity/syndicate. Just kind of reliving the 360 era stuff.

Also, messing around with Star of Providence on Switch which is pretty good.

Yeah. The shorter game sessions are what drew me in initially. Tie that with handheld gaming and it's just a perfect combo of quick play convenience. I'm probably just hitting burn out and need a break.

Slay the spire is another good one I forgot about. I played it heavy on the switch back when it was released.

I did. I wasn't a fan. I played it when it first released, and it was my first rogue-like but I didn't really like the games presentation. It's pretty gross. Plus, I was pretty bad at it since I only played fps and rpg games at the time, so that didn't help. I'm sure people won't like that answer.

Risk of Rain is what dipped my toes more in the genre, and I only played it since my friends wouldn't stop talking about it. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have given the genre another chance.

I actually do remember this. I got it used from EB games I think. I was afraid of the ring wraiths as a kid and gave up and didn't play again until I was a teenager. I remember this was different from the movies because it actually had Tom Bombadil!

I haven't played in ages, but I remember thinking it was pretty decent. I still think about it sometimes for some reason.

I'm not OP but I did try to gage the weight. It does seem like the switch 2 is close to the same weight. With joy cons it might actually be a bit heavier than the deck. The switch 2 and joycons are bigger than the switch 1, so it does change the ergonomics a bit, but they are still the same shape and all that.

My deck is near the first-generation LCDs so, I don't know how it compares to a steamdeck oled or newer lcd gens. Hope that helps a little.
