Does anyone have any experience with Yose Power e-bikes

I recently was given a Yose Power e-bike and I'm having trouble getting it working. I got the battery charged up and the display shows my speed when I'm riding, but when I operate the thumb throttle I don't feel any assistance or extra speed. The wires appear to be all connected per the manual I found online and the battery indicator shows a full charge. I have the key and tried turned fully both directions. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

Snow Boots for my first winter season in a snowy area

Moved from the beach to the mountains and need to prep for the upcoming winter. Gonna be hitting the thrift stores and online markets trying to find some snow boots. Where I'm at it doesn't get super cold very often so I don't think I need heavy insulation. I just need traction in snow and on ice. What brands should I keep my eye open for, to get a boot that will last me a few seasons?

Favorite scifi concept?

I'd love to hear about your favorite concept or idea you've read about or seen in scifi media.

My personal favorite is the Conjoiner Drive out of the Revelation Space series. These ship drives are dual drives on either side of a lighthugger and have a living being inside the drives to act as a supercomputer, which holds a wormhole open inside the drives. The wormhole links far in the past to the big-bang and uses the energy from the big-bang for propulsion.

In most scifi I've come across wormholes are used for FTL travel, and I thought this was such a unique and creative use of a wormhole it has stuck with me for years after reading about it.

So what are your favorite devices or ideas that have come out of scifi media?

Full vs Empty bladder, an unscientific experiment

I commute to work on my bike, not very far just a bit over three miles each way. I record each ride for fun just to see if I'm getting any faster. A few weeks ago I was closing down and had to go pee fairly bad, but decided to try and experiment and held my pee until I got home in order to see if the pressure on my bladder would encourage me to ride faster. The average moving speed on my way home for the week before was 14.8 mp/h with the lowest average moving speed ride being 14.5 mp/h and the highest being 15.3 mp/h. On the day with a full bladder my average moving speed was 15.7 mp/h and I had a road closure that detoured me an extra quarter mile, so even with a ever so slightly longer ride I absolutely crushed it on my way home. I decided that with my short commute the extra few seconds I shaved off my ride wasn't worth the discomfort so I did not continue the experiment to get better data.

Advice on a winter commuter

I recently landed in a small town that gets a decent amount of snow in the winter, and commute on my bike with thin road tires. I'm thinking I want a fat bike with some nice thick tires to deal with the snow days, but local used options are limited and new bikes are fairly pricey. I have a bit more options in the used departed if I can go with more standard mountain bike. Are regular mountain bikes a viable option for commuting in snow? We had a very weak winter this last year with 7 inches all season but from some locals I've spoken too they said it can get up to 6 or 7 inches a month and only main thoroughfars are plowed, if amount of snow makes a difference in what sort of bike would be most suitable.

Appreciate any advice from those of you who ride in the snow regularly.

My first guitar in 15 years, and one question.

Played guitar and bass when I was a teenager, but got rid of my stuff in my 20s when money was tight and I wasn't playing much. Been feeling the need for a creative outlet recently so I went a few towns over to a used music shop and grabbed this beauty. I've always loved Ovation guitars, the round back profile feels more natural to play than a standard dreadnought style. Spent a bit more than I was hoping when I walked in but I'm very happy to have something to play again.

I do have a question for the community here; where do you buy strings and whatnots online, that's not amazon or guitarcenter? I live in rural BFE and there are no music stores within 50 miles of me or else I'd go to one of those.

Appalachian Terror Unit - Casualties of Rape Culture

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/47987302

The weight of normalized sexism. Pretend it doesn’t exist. But rape is still used as a tactic of war, and you still control my sister with your fist. Breastfeeding is an obscene act to be hidden while rape jokes are supposedly funny and if they are not your uptight. Validate us, “Hey you’re a pretty good whatever for a girl”. Trivialize our story and even condone violence inflicted. Sick of hearing girls be told how to behave to not get raped. Victim blaming an automatic response like its every girl's fate. You’re a slut if you fuck and a prude if you don’t. Instilled with a sense of inferiority to remove prospect of pleasure. “removed” code for practicing any necessary self-assertion. No I don’t want preform for every man I pass on the street. Can’t have a day without hearing “Hey baby give me a smile”. Made to feel guilty for being harassed like I did something wrong. So fucking sick of being talked over and ignored. Women locked away in dungeons for fighting back. Stripped from the natural world severing the cord. Daughters kidnapped and married off to please old men, their toys replaced with tears and blood. An expectation of behavior, little girls measuring self-worth on plastic and airbrushed idols. Sick of being made to feel inferior. Sick of having to fight to have a voice. Gender-set limitations diminishing our human worth. Conveniently substitute the word sex for rape, something 1 in every 5 women face.

How to deal with armpit stains on white shirts with print?

I've got some white t-shirts that have graphic prints on the front, that are stained in the armpits. I was wondering if I could bleach just the armpits of the shirt? I was thinking if I rinsed the bleach off the pits before washing it wouldn't damage the rest of the shirt, but I'm not sure if there's a better way of dealing with pit stains. Thanks in advance.

Shirts are cotton if it matters
