YSK that apart from not having a car and voting, the single greatest thing you can do for the climate is simply eating less red meat.

Nah, I think their biggest con is making people believe this exact discourse right here, don't change their habits and keeping giving them money.

They are psychos that can care less about being blamed for this or that when they can simply keep bribing governments and never facing any consequences.

But they have real fear that people start being more conscious about their own consuming and stop giving them money.

Reduce Reuse Replace Capitalism

Reply in thread

People just like to look a things in a binary way and to look at excuses not do annoying things.

Só since recicling doesn't 100% solve the plastic problem obviously we should stop even trying to do the thing.

And also throw in reduce and reuse in the bucket of things not to do because why try everything at all if we can just point a finger at someone and keep not doing anything besides complain.

The Japan part was a mostly a joke, but there's is indeed some people who believe that. The not being killed part is actually the only logical conclusion if you think realistically about it, but didn't actually know that it was a thing for the Muslims! TIL

PC game recommendation for my partner and I

From the top of my head I can think two:

  • Battle block theater is a platformer puzzle game and really fun to play in local coop, and it runs on almost anything.
  • Sonic All stars racing is a really fun Mario kart like racing game with local multiplayer.

Not sure about Linux support though, so check it out first, but both are relatively old titles so I think they have a good chance to run.

How the regime in Iran jams Starlink and what people could do

Reply in thread

It's hard to predict the outcome in such a chaotic event but starlink alone already does 100k+ collision avoidance maneuvers each year (can't remember the exact number but is more than one every 2 minutes). It's highly unlikely that we would be able to accurately track the newly formed debris of dozens of satellites blowing up and adjust the orbit of (potentially) hundreds of satellites in a few minutes.
