How Popular Does Biden Need to Be to Beat Trump? Not Very.
Don't take it for granted. Hilary lost because of this. Get out and vote.

Instead of movies and crappy games on those in-flight displays, they should just stream the view out the cockpit window.

Many do now. They shut it down prior to landing which sucks.

Lemmy probably feels like Reddit when it first started, all warm cuddly and friendly to newcomers eager to discuss and collaborate around central topics.
I find Lemmy to be an echo chamber more than Reddit was. Depends on the community but Lemmy can be pretty caustic if you don't agree with something.
That being said, is fine there is different opinions. Creates discussion.

Big Lebowski Fact: Jesus wears rings from the American Bowling Congress that certify his ability to roll a perfect 300 game, a 299 game, and an 800 series.

But you don't know if he really is a pervert or just the opinion of Walter? With Walters opinion of everyone, it is hard to know.
If you did not know either, Walter pulls out a gun which from an outside view makes him possibly far worse than Jesus. He certainly was an angry guy of which Lebowski uncharacteristically points out during the ashes scene.
Great build of characters. Good show that I think is underrated but similar quirky characters, Homegrown with John Lithgow.

Mindlessly petting a cat is like mindlessly washing a knife.
True story. One of my employees cats gave birth while she was working. Her boyfriend arrived home first and upon noticing the cat, went to check out the kittens. Well apparently the cat, who was always friendly prior, went absolutely cujo. The guy was wearing shorts and the cat just attached to his legs and shredded him. Apparently he like booted the cat a few times but it just kept coming at him. He ended up locking himself in the bathroom and had to climb out a window. The cat actually nicked an artery in his leg and he was bleeding significantly. Had to go to emergency. Apparently the bathroom looked like a war zone from what I was told.
Anyhow my cats always been good.

People who were fired on their first day at work/saw somebody get fired their first day at work: What happened that led to the firing?
Not exactly on topic but in the spirit of this post have a funny story. Hired a young lady recently entering the work force. She had been working about a week when we did our payroll run. This entailed printing out all the checks with pay details etc. Is done in an administrative office that is obviously kind of private. Not some place you would wake in without permission. Anyhow we started the payroll print and my manager stepped out briefly to get a coffee. When she came back this new employee was flipping thru everyone's pay check. Of course my manager immediately asks what she is doing to which she responds 'oh I'm just wondering what everyone is being paid'.
She honestly thought it was just fine to not only start flipping thru paperwork in the managers office but to also look over employee payroll checks. She simply had no idea and just stated what she was doing like it was just fine. Actually that was her saving grace. While we made it quite clear how inappropriate it was, being it was her first job, we chalked that down to immaturity and didn't let her go on the spot. Had she been older that likely would have been her last day.
Mind you she only last a week longer for a myriad of other reasons. Little common sense.

Mountains are collapsing: A Swiss mountain peak fell apart, sending 3.5 million cubic feet of rock into the valley below.
Kind of interesting but movement of Earth equivalent to 40 Olympic swimming pools is rather miniscule when you compare that to a mountain peak much less a mountain.

How is Russia not Financially Crippled?
Oil and gas is massively profitable. Western nations have crippled that industry resulting in countries like Russia becoming energy giants. The world is consuming new records in consumption this year and let capita, developed nations are nearly a factor more then emerging nations.

Is more funny after you watch it more than once. Walter put everyone in only two categories. Dependable or not. And if you were in the second category, you likely were a pervert or had some other derogatory trait. No way to know if he just spreading rumors or latched onto one.
I wish more directors made shows like this.

Why don't given names vary more per region?
At one time seven people worked in my company and three of them were named Tim. Then I interviewed a new employee and his name was Tim. Honestly it actually weighed in my decision to have 4 Tims in a company of 8 employees.

America's richest 10% are responsible for 40% of its planet-heating pollution, new report finds
This is a piss poor metric. It is not what these people personally emit but what they emit by all the companies that they may own. Even though those companies produce products you and me consume.
In other words if I am a massive farmer and in the ten percent wealth category, my carbon footprint includes all the food produced and you consume from my farm.

Judge orders Texas officials to remove floating buoys along Rio Grande border
Reply in thread
They don't even hurt the economy overall. The people coming over are typically of working age, generally motivated and commit serious crimes at a rate less than half of native citizens. Texas has really good stats on this. The only stat illegal immigrants rate higher are moving violations. Possibly because they may not have licences or as much experience driving.

Romney to Retire, Calling For a ‘New Generation’ Beyond Biden and Trump

This is the problem. The moderate Republicans that didn't support Trump are looking at retirement. They are marginalized in their party. The replacements likely will be further right.
The country did far better when you have moderate and capable leadership on both sides.

Why don't radar planes crew wear a parachute during combat missions ?
AWACS had parachute and some chut you could slide out at one time. Don't quote me on that entirely. They simply were not worth it. First most accidents happen and have happened on takeoff and landing. No good in that situation. In a war environment, getting hit by a missile, pretty much the only weapon that will take down an AWAC or similar. Missiles likely won't give crew time to escape. Plane will be doing some kind of tumble. Then you got training. It not simply train once and all good but every year. Sometimes it is better to use that money and time to provide better alternate training that will be more effective. Say for more escort aircraft or better alternate safety systems within the aircraft. You also have the space it takes up resulting in less functionality of your aircraft.
In a large scale world war III scenario, AWACs and similar would be a dangerous plane to crew. Shot down rapidly. In our current warfare situation, they are one of the safer planes to be in. Unless you are Russian and incompetent.

Should I just quit urban and social life for a rural and lonely life?
I would say you need a change. I suspect you have some level of depression and a change of direction can help. I think you will find living off the land not as peaceful as you think. Deciding to live a minimalist existence can be rewarding but doing so with zero basic amenities is brutal. Have no power and relying on your land for all your needs becomes tedious very fast. An extremely small percentage of people could successfully do that.
Possibly have you considered just moving to a small rural town and taking on more labor type of small work. Handyman stuff of your own comforts. Not sure of your skills but you would need to be a handyman if your thinking of becoming a hermit. Just one suggestion.

Does Mach speed change depending on the altitude?
Yes a fair amount. At ground is about 760mph at 40000 feet about 659.
Temp and humidity factor some as well.

Possibly. How about the reality that people are simply not interacting in person but online. I can't believe this is not the first post.
Seriously go out to a bar, a music festival, volunteer, hell get drunk a few times and loosen up. In the 70, 80, 90 right up till 2000 this was every weekend. Hell it is not some work drone thing. That is an excuse. Work later in life is where you actually might meet some friends and from there have drinks after work and maybe that results in a random meeting with some ladies or men in your life.
School won't teach this. Life skills need practice not exams.
