Now that smaller instances are disappearing, which instances do you think will stand the test of time?
I’d like to say lemmy.world, but a lot of communities you’d think would be quite active are actually not so.

TIL that the exact meaning of the letter “p” in the pH scale is unknown because the inventor never bothered to explain what it stood for.

How do you know that?!

Emergency call to a house fire
Reply in thread
Some older houses from the 70’s around here still have it. Insurance will make you rewire if they know about it. If there’s a fire and they find out you knew about the aluminum but didn’t disclose it, they’ll tell you to beat it

Shameless plug, but www.blueenergynb.com is where Google should be pointing but it’s a new website and not finished yet. Should be ready to fully launch in the coming weeks.

It’s pretty wicked. Getting about 550km/100% charge in-town with summer temperatures. I usually only top it up to 85% unless I’m heading on a longer trip. Winter I was getting around 375-400km. Gotta spring for the extended range though. A guy in town had a standard range and sold it this spring because the winter mileage was killing him. Towing… it’ll do it, it’s pretty capable in-town. You have to keep in mind it is still 1st gen tech. I wouldn’t hook on a boat and head down the highway with it or anything but I haul stuff around for work all the time with it no problem.

Every generation has some product/ingredient that they didn’t know was dangerous at the time: tobacco, lead, asbestos, etc. What is that item for this generation?

Still working this thing out. New to Lemmy, never been a mod, so please bear(bare?) with me. Hopefully this community takes off, I couldn’t find anything other than a general Ford community for Lightning owners. r/f150lightning was one of my main subs before Reddit took the dive.

Where is the original Han Solo in Carbonite prop?

That’s awesome and I’m cool with everything in there… except ET. Fuuuuuck that thing it creeps me out and always has since I was a kid. Like fuck that thing would be in my house. Priceless artifact or not. It can be just as priceless locked in a storage locker by itself.

[Request] Ability to filter instance from All feed without entering instance to apply the filter and also have it applied immediately
Reply in thread
Yes, but that still takes you away from the main feed to do that and you have to get the spelling right or it won’t work. When I’m the main feed, when you tap the three dots in the upper left of a post there is an option to block the user that made the post. An option to block the instance would be ideal.

Emergency call to a house fire

I’m in Canada and in our area insurance will want it rewired. You do have the option of getting a licensed guy to sign off on it, but you’d have a hard time finding someone to do that. Because of issues like the posted photo, I’m not willing to bet my license on it. You can check those connections once a month if you want. Shit like this will still happen because the average homeowner doesn’t understand the risks and limitations of aluminum wiring.
