Don't let Reddit kill 3rs party apps!

Reddit has been going downhill for ages. They stopped listening to the users, its customers, years ago. They started becoming more 'Social' as they put it. Adding chat features, and other useless features. All the time ignoring important things like stopping spam, decent moderation tools, blocking people, etc... I have been using Old.Reddit with Reddit Enhancement Suite for years to make the site usable. I will miss Reddit, but I have been missing it for quite some time.

As for people who put effort into apps, subreddits, etc... Yes, it's a shame, but the internet evolves and moves on. Harsh but true. Hopefully, these people will see a future elsewhere. Because a good portion of those people are talented. Maybe one of them can produce apps for Kbin.social? Who knows what they will find to put their energy into, maybe one such person leaving Reddit will create a new social media site we all flock too?

I will be watching to see what happens. Yes I support those fighting to keep 3rd party access, specially as it means some with certain needs (Like the blind) will have no access at all to Reddit. I also think this shake-up is needed. I will be using the Fediverse.

What's the term for Lemmy users?

Well, Lemmy is part of the Fediverse, as has been pointed out. So maybe we are all Feddies? I am using Kbin.social, so maybe I'm just a Bin? Then again, as boring as it is, maybe we are just users? Or even more shocking, maybe we are humans? Nah, surely not? I will stick to calling myself a twat.

the pride makes you go faster

Honestly, people, it's true. I was walking into town, a trip that normally takes me 20 minutes. I decided to test this out, so I started my stopwatch and started thinking gay thoughts. I have no idea what your standard homosexual thinks about, I'm just your normal straight white male. Just attempting to think gay made me walk into town 5 minutes faster.

I shared these results with my boyfriend when I got back from town, and he was amazed.

Lets show Reddits CEO who's in charge !

Rather than place all your energy into Reddit, a place that is slowly going down the toilet. Why not put your energy into making this place better? That's using your energy more efficiently. Make this place better, and people will move from Reddit.

Also, it seems a little rude, and awkward to use Kbin for nothing more than a place to organize protests to keep Reddit alive.

Redditors brigading against Lemmy

Reddit is known for it's use of bots. Bots helped Reddit grow in its early days. I'm not surprised that bots are being used now. As more people leave, I'm sure more bots will get used to give the impression of an active community. Just lie they did in those early days.

People in /r/redditalternatives are talking about a "Reddit 2.0" What website would fill that role?

The problem is, many want a second Reddit. I and most here want something better than Reddit. Also, those that stayed with Reddit will not move until a precise copy is available, and someone holds their hand to help them move to this new platform. So many are plain lazy, hence so many stupid questions, because these idiots can't use Google. They want others to do it all for them.

So they can talk all they like about Reddit 2.0, but they are too lazy to find it, move to it, and shape it into what they want.

Do you think that it is the reddit admins who are running the repost bots?

It wouldn't surprise me. For some years, it has looked like they are gearing up to sell the site. With the latest idiotic rule change, it kind of confirms that. They are wanting to do anything that drives more users through their official website or app. Inflate users figures and price asked for Reddit goes up. Next step is to block ad blockers so more ad revenue? Who knows?

Didn't they use similar tactics to start Reddit? Bots, buzzwords, etc... to make the site look like it was busy?

Any serious investor/buyer must be concerned about recent activity. Unless you're someone like Musk. Maybe that's the plan, he will buy Reddit as well and combine it with Twitter, and create Twittit.

With Reddit officially going insane I am glad that I am here

I think I have done my rounds and checked out almost all alternatives. Many have good points, as well as bad. The thing that made me think the Fediverse is the place, is seeing actual debate. People actually stating sources for their opinion, then replies stating alternative sources, etc... No hate, just calm breaking down of viewpoints and decent scientific sources being used. I couldn't recall the last time I saw that on Reddit. I have been in that place for 15 or so years.

This made me explore the Fediverse, that was about six months ago. I explore any new place that pops up, mainly from curiosity. Some I really have hated, but what makes one place better over another can be subjective. So I am not going to hate on anyone that opts to move elsewhere. Life is too short for that shit. I moved to Kbin after exploring other places in the fedi-wotsit-time-continuum, for no other reason than it felt relaxed, and heading in the right direction.

What are your favorite Kbin magazines?

The magazines are growing faster than the content to fill them. I have lost count of the magazines I have gone to subscribe too, only to find no content. Hopefully this will change.

I am trying to stay well clear of magazines that keep mentioning Reddit. Science, sci-fi, mechanical keyboards, retro games, etc... have all been mentioned.
