Trump ends tariffs on some Canadian products, aiming to help Senator Collins
Reply in thread
Export tarrifs is a sketchy game to start playing. We still buy a bunch of food and other important stuff from the USA. I try not to, but I wouldnt want to impact food security.
Maybe the people selling tge specialized stuff to farmers just increase their price for Americans. This is definitely a situation where we the individuals have the collective power to fuck them.

Carney Wants the Power to Break Strikes. Unions Vow to Defy Him
Reply in thread
The rail strike was absolutely ridiculous. CP and CN absolutely colluded to create that and the government did absolutely noting to seperate the strikes or hold them accountable.
Also don't forget, CN and CP LOCKED OUT the union. Also they stopped shipping any new dangerous goods weeks before the lockout to make sure that those that relied on DG shipments to power generators in Quebec and clean their municipal water supplies would be loosing their shit on day one of the lockout. They also posted messaging warning people about potential unsafe drinking water if the lockout went on too long.

Number of people bitten by rabid skunk in downtown Vancouver: officials
He said a number of people were looking into the bushes nearby, and that's when he saw the animal, which looked lethargic and confused.
"I just started talking to the skunk because I'm an animal person. I like to do that," Haché said.
"I was saying, 'Hi, buddy, how you doing?' And the skunk looked up at me, and turned toward me, and it walked on to the sidewalk and it bit my leg and then it bit my shoe."
Isnt most people's reaction to seeing a skunk in a bush to just get some distance? Also any wild amimal that was acting weird would be giving me alarm bells, maybe thats just hindsight but animals can carry diseases don't you know!

The government could literally spin up their own Mastodon instance with minimal investment and management needed
But then comes the hard part: getting people to use it, especially normal people. Even just getting the politicians on it would be difficult.

That's the concern with it looking like a potentially great malware vector as things move forward if people are trusting more and more things to AI generated code and not doing thorough review processes.
Kind of a sci-fi thought... what happens if AI uses AI slop code as a vector to insert subtle bits of code in multiple projects that seem innocuous on their own but are actually creating a distributed AI hive mind.
I'm not saying I think that's what's happening right now or that it's possible any time soon, but we've seen malware inserted in apps, bitcoin mining on iPhone apps, etc. Skynet Super Claude being created without us noticing isn't maybe the craziest thing? Someone else said this project is 57k lines of code; aint nobody got time to check all that.

Hardly... but I don't see why picking a side on anything in the referendum mattered. The referendum was to see what Albertans wanted and they told her.

Some employers with ties to other countries were sort of selling work visas. They'd get the LMIA permit (or whatever its called) and then get someone that wanted to come to Canada but couldn't immigrate any other way to pay 10's of thousands to come work that job.

Maybe we'll see a federal party that's a provincial voting block, similar to the PQ, spring up in the west in the semi near future.
You mean like the reform party but more spicy?
