It's the same story with tons of films: Taxi Driver, Joker, The Boys, Watchmen. They get universal praise from the left and right.

The Left: "This insightful satire shows the protagonist's slow descent from obsession and inceldom into terrorism and psychopathy. It serves as a stark reminder of how these thought patterns are the beginnings of a societal tragedy."

The Right: "I fucking love this guy. He just shoots the people he doesn't like. Based. Highly recommended."

Why is Australia the only "core anglosphere" country where voting is mandatory?

All the people saying mandatory voting is bad are misinformed. It is essential for democracy, and should be applied everywhere.

Australia has mandatory voter turnout, but you do not need to submit a vote. You just need to show up on polling day.

Everyone has political interests and needs to be politically represented, but some people are too tired after work to take themselves to the polling centre. Others are incarcerated. If anything, those people are more in need of political representatives.

American conservatives spend billions trying to prevent poor overworked people from reaching polling places or exercising their right to vote. Mandatory voting prevents that.

Make no mistake, Australian democracy is healtheir than whatever clusterfuck in going on in the US.

They'll come demanding our votes any day now

Although that is true, you were never promised a fair world.

You need to use all your cunning and what little power you have to best negotiate the one you live in. Being able to vote democrats in gave you two parties to play against each other. The option of a lesser evil.

By not voting, and allowing the republicans to stack the supreme court, non-voters gave away their last bargaining chip.

It is not the parties that will burn.

They're completely serious

The fact that there are very few fossils of soft bodied creatures kinda misses the point.

All the evolutionary diversity of molluscs is still alive. Squids, nautiluses, cuttlefish, snails slugs.

What’s the hypothesis here? An alien meteorite landed with 800 types of cephalopod, that just by chance share 97% of their DNA with slugs and snails that already existed on Earth?

He doesn't try to prevent crime, he simply delights in the sadistic act of beating up criminals, which is ironically a crime.

He instantly judges people based on which side of the law they stand on, but when he is declared a criminal himself, he doesn't even attempt to reflect on it. He just keeps punching.

When his own friend is revealed to be a rapist, murderer and war criminal(?), he has no interest ["I'm not concerned with speculating on the moral lapses of men who died in their country’s service"], because he doesn't actually care about crime, he just uses 'fighting crime' as an excuse for his real passion, beating up those he considers undesirables.

He's a hypocrite (and a fascist).

It's basic science

All I know is you shouldn't drink a ton of red gatorade midway through a night of heavy drinking.

When you start to throw up, your friends will assume you are vomiting blood and call an ambulance or possibly an exorcist.
